Hi, I am new to this forum thing, so bear with me..I am hoping maybe someone here can help or give some advice on my husbands problem which seems to be getting worse as he ages...I met my husband approx. 10 years ago..He was very thin and still is..He told me about a health problem he had but never went to a doctor about it..Whenever he ate he got sick and/or blacked out alot, or got very nauseated and had to lie down for a while. He thought he had hypoglycemia or diabetes, he took his blood sugar on those home tests and it always varied widely he said..So I insisted he go to a doctor to check. Well, they didn't find anything wrong with his blood, other than they noticed something in there but seemed to want to keep it quiet, didn't really tell him what they found, but he told me he knew, that it was agent orange, as he was in nam in the late 60's and got sprayed with this chemical. So anyway, they ran a bunch of tests on him, and never found anything, finally we were referred to another doctor that did some brain waves testing as he drank soda, as he thought his symptoms got worse when drinking soda..Well, that really didn't show much they told us, but did seem to show some small changes, which they called grand mal siezures..So they prescribed depakote and he has been on that for 8 years now..Which has helped with the blackouts but now lately seems he gets nauseated alot more when eating , we sort of narrowed it down to foods with dextrose in it, he gets very sick when eating foods with this in it..Even throws up at times..I am extremely worried as he is getting so thin, we thought it could be some type of allergy to dextrose but sometimes it happens don't know, I am trying to get him to go back for more testing..He has lived with this for so long and it is very draining on us emotionally.... Has anyone any ideas on what this could be? He drinks alot of coffee..He doesn't smoke anymore, quit 6 years ago..He is 60 years old and very good shape other than being real thin and having this eating problem..I would appreciate any advice or help in figuring this illness out..Tia
