Q: Prenatal Yoga

Have any of you ever tried prenatal yoga? If so, what do you think about it?

I've never even tried yoga at all, but right before I found out I was pregnant, I was thinking of checking it out. I've read a little about prenatal yoga (and how some places even have "mommy and me" yoga for after the baby is born, so cute!), and i'm thinking about trying it.

I just wanted to know if any of you have had experience with it and can tell me what you think.

Thanks!

Sorry, I didn't try. I started to show fairly quickly and by that time it was already a nightmare to me to even think of bending/stretching. Which just sucked bcos I danced for 17 years (ballet) and got out of it, then just this summer got back into it. Then I had to stop my workouts and it burned me up. If you try let me know if it gives you any relief the way they say it does.

I love prenatal yoga...Its so relaxing and a good workout, it keeps your arms, legs, thighs, and butt toned. I highly recommend it! And you can do it up to the very last weeks of your pregnancy! Goodluck.

I struggle everyday to get socks and shoes on....The sound of yoga at this point makes me tremble with fear!! But the mommy and me yoga sounds really fun. I wonder if they have that around me. I'll be so glad when I can bend and tie my own shoes again!! Only a few more weeks left.

Great Way to Relieve Stress
I did yoga while I was pregnant and yes it did keep my body tone and it limbered my body. I really like to mommy to mommy time I had with the members. Sometime it is important to bond with people who are going through similar situations and that is what yoga is about (mind/body/and soul). I work as a therapist so I have a lot of stress and doing yoga was my day spa treatment, we all need to treat ourselves to relaxing times. Another way that yoga helped was with opening the pelvic area, when my son dropped the pain was unbelievable and yoga helped (me) with opening my pelvic floor. Plus this can help in other areas of your life  give it a try, but consult with your doc first.
