Hi: I am considering switching my birth control, currently the pill, to the nuvaring. I just wanted to know what any of you who have tried nuvaring think about it, how it affected you compared to the pill?? Would you recommend it over the pill? What were your side effects? Any advice or info you can give me would be great! Thanks.

I have been using nuvaring for a few months now and I love it! I love not having to worry about birth control daily. Plus, I have don't have cramps or bloating anymore - that's my favorite part! The only negative thing is a little more discharge throughout the month (as opposed to just before my period on birth control pills), but it's not bothersome at all. I just use pantiliners.
As for guys feeling it during sex, it seems to depend on the position. My fiance could feel it sometimes and it didn't bother him, but other times he said it was "rubbing too hard" and asked me to take it out. Of course, I put it in right away when we're finished (you can take it out for up to three hours). Anymore questions, just ask :o)

Thank You!
Thanks so much. I do have one more question: I never used to have cramps or anything before I went on the pill. Ever since my first period on the pill, I have had cramps something terrible. Did you always have cramps/bloating even before the pill?... Or did yours start and continue once you were on the pill? Thanks again... I appreciate your help so much. I just wanted to talk to someone who had used it before I did!

Hm let me think back. I have been on birth control for almost 4 years. Before going on the pill, my periods were very irregular - 40 days, 35, 21 days, all over. I never had cramps but I did have bloating. I have always also had headaches when I am due for my period. I know on the pill I had bloating and minor cramps, but the cramps were usually only the day I was starting my period.
Another thing - I have never had the nuvaring slip out, thankfully! But I don't have sex regularly (long distance relationship) so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I <3 Nuvaring
I've been on nuvaring for 1 year now and I love it! It's so easy, I never know it's there, my period is a breeze, and I would recomend it to anyone. I never gained weight, the first month was a bit odd, I had "morning sickness" and breast tenderness, but I got over it. I take a multi-vitamin with b-vitamins so I think that counteracts the possibility of feeling depressed/fatigued. But all in all, it's awesome and more people should try it.
