Problems Sleeping!
Posted: 02-10-06 07:10am

Hiya!

I just want to know if this is normal and if anyone else gets this.

The last few nights I have not been able to fall asleep, I feel a cold, fuzzy, sinking feeling flash/shudder through me and it makes me twitch, sometimes 3 times in a row, it really freaks me out. Im not sure if this is an anxiety or panic attack as I feel fine as im falling asleep. I also wake up early morning to a horrible scary feeling like my house is haunted or something

the last 2 nights ive tried forcing myself to stay awake and im starting to feel so tired.

My anxiety seems to be getting worse, and im not sure whats to do, ive tried talking to my partner who just gets angry telling me to "sort it out" he wont allow me to take tablets and thinks me seeing a counsellor makes it worse. He really gets mad at me when I cry which I do alot recenty. I havnt left the house in a few days not even to work!

Are you live alone? Are you live in a rental house? Do you watch horrible movie before sleep?
I suggest you to buy a new bed which was more comfortable and clean out your room in tidy.. I guess this was just a feng shui problem. Do you know fengshui mean what? Our room got to have a bright vision, does you? Room must clean daily. Maybe your room got dust which caused you hardly to get sleep.

Depression?

This sounds like insomnia due to depression.

I am concerned that your partner won't "let you" take tabs...Could a controlling relationship be causing this?

Take care and get all the help you feel you need. Speaking from personal experience anxiety/depression only get worse if you don't treat the problem. Ask your doctor about lexapro, it's an antidepressant that made me very sleepy at first, so I took it at night and it helped both the insomnia and the depression. There is light at the end of the tunnel, stand up for what you need.

This is absolutely an anxiety/depression symptom, and one I had in a bad way (in addition to the old "can't get enough air" feeling). It was just like you describe it: you're on that fence between sleeping and waking, and suddenly you jerk hard, or you twitch (for me it was any limb, like a leg, shoulder, sometimes even my abdomen jerked hard enough that I nearly sat myself up!). Seems like when it happened to me, I was literally unable to actually get to sleep either for hours, sometimes for the entire night. I could only sleep every other night, on the nights when I was so exhausted, there was no choice.

Oddly, I get the creepy haunted feeling on wake up quite often, even now. It's usually associated with bad dreams though; I have those a lot.

I was lucky--mine is pretty minor now and was only worsened by circumstances at the time.

As for you, your partner needs to shape up or ship out! That is so wrong and sounds completely unsupportive. It won't help *at all*. What you need is to get at the source of your anxiety or depression--a counsellor would help that a lot, and a decent prescription will probably help a lot with the sleep problem until you can live without it. (i found elavil helpful, especially since one of the side-effects is sleepiness, heh.) and the previous poster could be right--your often-angry partner might very well be the cause--at the very least, it's probably exacerbating the problem to a degree. Kick him in the pants! :d
