My husband and I have been ttc for only two months now. I am on metformin 850mg tablets taking two a day. I am insulin restant. ( I do not have dibetes but it is some what the same thing) I have always been concerned about it hurting the baby incase I got pregnant with knowing it. I have done some research and talked to some people who have taken it and they have told me that this can help you to become pregnant. I do not know much about this and was hoping some one who has maybe been on it or knows something about it could let me know.

I have pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome with insulin resistance). I take 1500mg of metformin a day. I got preg with #2 on met alone. I ovulated on cd 28 and got pregnant. I am still taking my met during pregnancy, until 12 weeks. It reduces the chance of miscarriage for women with hormonal and insulin issues. Every study they have done has not shown an increase in birth defects. I hope this helps. Feel free to pm me if you need to .
