Q: Are Pustules in the Upper Pubic Region Caused by an STD?

My question is regarding my sexual partner. He recently came back from a trip from Asia. When he came home, he had 3 pustules (pus-filled acne-like sores in his upper pubic area and they are taking a while to heal and they are still red since he "popped" them. Could this be something like ingrown hairs or acne?...or is this maybe an SDT of some kind. The pustules were at the top reaches of the pubic hair. It is a hard subject to bring up, so I do not want to touch on it without being informed.

Pustules in the pubic area are commonly diagnosed as an inflammation of the hair follicles (folliculitis). However, for a diagnosis, you partner will need to see a dermatologist or a dermavenerologist. There, the doctor will perform a visual inspection of the area and your partner can learn about treatment options such as an antibiotic cream to apply on the pustules after he has popped them.
