Q: Treating and Diagnosing Stomach Pain on the Left Side of the
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 7th, 2006
My boyfriend has been having stomach aches frequently in the past two weeks. Some are so sharp that he describes them as ice picks being stabbed into his stomach. The pains are in the left side of his stomach, what could be the cause of such pains?

Stomach pain without any other symptoms could mean anything or …nothing at all. You can try to calm down the pain with a spasmolitic (trospium). If the pain doesn’t go away, your boyfriend will have to go to his doctor. Standard blood examinations plus a Helicobacter pillory-serology and an abdominal ultrasound will be needed.
