Im 19 and in august my retina detatched in one of my eyes and I had to have surgery done immediatly... Anyway it has been 7 months since the surgery... And my eye still has not healed all the way. Its still red on the left side and doesnt look normal. I get asked alot about it and it looks so weird in pictures. I do have a cataract on it that im getting off next week... Anyway how long until my eye goes back to the way it was? It wasnt the result of an injury... It was just family history and lettice degeneration or whatever thats called... I really just want it to be normal again... Like it was... My doctor said it would take 3-5 months to heal... Should I go back and see him?

I assume u have had the cataract surgery by now... And hopefully have gone back to see ur retina doctor.

I have had five retinal detachments, both eyes cataracts with lens implants... I still have vision.

I can give lots of info on this if u still have questions.

How long does it take to recover afte retinal detachment surgery
I had a retinal detachment surgery on one eye 2 weeks ago. The surgeon told me that the surgery was successful. One week later, they used laser to shoot into my eye to continue to heal it. But until now, my vision is not better, even worst then before the operation. I still see flashing light, floating liquid and straight lines look curved. I can not read anymore because things are very blurry. Is there anyone here who has the same situation like me? How long does it take to recover the vision? Please give me some advices. Many thanks

Retinal Surgery Recovery
Two weeks ago, I had a small retinal detachment by that blood seaped inside the cornea. I had the surgery last week to remove the blood and corrected the retina by laser. The surgent put gas(N2O) inside the eye, now almost one week my visions is coming back slowly! And still I see the floating liquid and yesterday doctor checked me and said everything perfect and putting three different types of medicines in the eye now! I see the vision is coming back slowly but the eye looks very lazy in the mirror. Thanks god for the medical technology in US.
