High Anxiety: Psycho-therapy Versus Medication Posted: 02-06-06 15:16pm
Hi my name is dave and i believe a suffer
from anxiety, i seem to be very on edge
often. Work is pretty stressful at times
and i get real tense. Also when i have
anything to do like go to an interview for
work , go on a plane, or even just going
to real close friends of mine i seem to
get nervous or tense and i throw up when i
have these things to do. I am going to the
doctor this week but i just wanted some
advice on maybe if i need some kind of
prescription drugs or if its something i
just have to live with. Thanks, dave
Well, Dave, it is good for you that you
have decided to visit a doctor. Be sure
that you will get proper help. I believe
that you are suffering from a kind of
social phobia. It isounds like a neurotic
disorder where a person becomes anxious in
public situations like those you’ve
described. There are some medications that
may be given to you but I feel that
psycho-therapy can greatly help you. You
can now seek proper help from a mental
health professional.
