In uncircumcised men, material that
collects between the preputium(skin
duplicature) and the head of the penis is
called smegma. Smegma has an unpleasant
odor due to bacterial activity. Infection
in this localized area (balano-postitis)
can also cause an unpleasant smell. You
can perform a deep cleaning to your
husband’s penis using warm water and
soap. You can also test for the prescence
of bacteria and request that you both be
examined for a yeast infection. A yeast
infection can be passed between you two ad
infinitum.
