I've been having contractions on and off all day and I can't tell if they're just bh, or if they're the real thing. They're really irregular, but they hurt like crazy. I still have about 3 weeks left in this pregnancy... If this is actually labor, is it okay to deliver 3 weeks early? I'm nervous. I"m not going to the hospital until the contractions are 5 -7 minutes apart, but i'm already nervous and anxious.

Also, if this is just false labor, is it normal to have braxton hicks all day like this? My water hasn't broken and there hasn't been any spotting or leaking of fluids. I think I lost my mucus plug a few days ago, but someone here told me that labor shouldn't start for a couple weeks after that. Anyway... What do you all think is going on?

Labor can start anytime after loosing your mucus plug - the same day or up to a couple of weeks after.

It's hard to know if they are bh or not. Real contractions are a bit more regular than you are describing though. Unforutunately bh could go on for a couple of days, and then just go away. When I was at your stage of pregnancy, every little twinge I thought 'wow, this is it!'. It made the last three weeks go very very slow.

I think your baby would be fine if born 3 weeks early.
