Hello everyone,
i am new here.. Seems like a nice
place.
Well I am depressed and stressed, the
reasons I know, just hard life, stupid
country to live in, not being able to see
my partner cause we live oceans apart,
future stresses me alot cause I am not
sure about things.
I do not go to shrinks, its not as popular
here and not sure they even exist here, I
dont take any pills even though im
thinking of buying some herbal pills I
heard of.
My problem is that I cant get motivated to
do anything. I just cant, I know the
reason is all this stress and depression.
I wonder if any of you have the same
motivation problem? And if you can give
any tips on how to fight this?
Sometimes I feel good and all but that
doesnt last longer than a couple of mins
or an hour. I just feel like the whole
word is living their lives and im here
stuck in the wrong place doing nothing.
Thanks for listning.

Notes From a Friend Posted: 02-16-06 14:06pm
Sorry to hear that you feel this way and
that things are going the way that they
are.
I read a very inspiring book the other day
and I do feel motivated. Its called
"notes from a friend" by anthony
robbins.
I thought it might be all americanised
cheering and so on - but I was pleasantly
surprised by the content of simple and
practical little tidbits and ways of
changing your perception.
I reccomend it - you can get it from
amazon or ebay - probably other places as
well. - its just a thin book, and I read
just one chapter per day - its less than
100 pages.
I hope this is of interest to you.
If you want more info about this and other
stressbusting or motivating stuff, please
go to my website at www.Nottingham-therapy.Co.
Uk (all lower case letters).
The site has just started but every week
ther is new stuff being added for the next
year. Look out for loads of free stuff.

Re: How to Get Motivated? Posted: 02-19-06 04:45am
Hi, I read ur posting and everything u
said made me feel like someone else out
there feels the same as me, I feel the
same I cannot get motivated I have 2
children my partner works all the times
im forever on my own with the children, I
never want to do anything, some times I
never want to get dressed, sounds really
lazy and I tell people and they just say
im lazy and need to sort myself out, its
hard, I really feel for you, maybe we
could help each other out here, we're both
in the same boat so maybe if we do a day
by day diary to each other and help each
other to get motivated. :d

The reason why you have no motivation is
because your brain associates motvation
with fear, or pain. Your brain is trying
to protect you, but unfortunately has the
message mixed up. Fear from what though?
Fear from actually working toward a goal,
fear from all the work involved. It is
much more pleasurable to do nothing
because your brain associates
procrastination with pleasure,and tells
you that this is the better way to go.
What you have to do is reassociate or
reprogram your brain by
1) accepting and acknowledging the
problem.
2) tell your brain, thank you for trying
to help me, but by you protecting
me.....And write 10 reasons how its
hurting you.
3) then write 10 reasons how you would
benefit from a different attitude.
You have to associate hard work and hard
motivation with pleasure, so much pleasure
that it would pain you to procrastinate
and do nothing. Convince yourself that
procrastinating is another day off your
life wasted,... It has to equal pain.

Hey there
i can understand what you mean, I find to
motavate me I start my day with a nice
shower (sounds nuts it really helps) no
matter if i'm home or going out for the
day I dress in nice cloths casual but nice
and put on some makeup, by this time i'm
feeling better.
Try these too
- listen to uplifting music of your
choice
- go shopping you don't even have to buy
just walking around a mall window shopping
and then getting a hotchocolate or iced
coffee is great and bring a friend too
- watch or rent a comedy show, standup,
etc.... Laughter is the best thing
- go or rent a favorite movie
- treat yourself, either to a nice lunch
out or chocolate bar, ice cream whatever
makes you smile
- call a friend and talk that really helps
me I call up my best friend and we just
laugh and remember things and have a great
time
- surf the net for ideas, music, books
anything fun I love that
if you do things that make you happy and
smile soon you will find taht your feeling
so much better and you will feel motavated
again but give yourself time it takes
time
also getting a good nights rest will help,
try to go to bed at the same tiems every
night and wake up same time every day, you
can even try over the counter sleep aids
if you need to occasionally
then and first I suggest talking this over
with your doc, there are great anti d's
out there that can help and great meds and
other ideas that the doc may have always
always start there!
Good luck hope you feel better!

Unmotivated And Trying Many Things Posted: 02-26-06 23:15pm
I have been unmotivated for so long, I
can't even remember. I used to be a
track star in high school and full of
energy. Heck, I could go on 3 hours
sleep on a regular basis. Then I turned
19 and developed depression during my
freshman year of college. It was such a
struggle to stay motivated and happy. I
tried many drugs and used therapy on a
regular basis. I have been in the funk
more of less for 14 years. I did finish
college but now have had many jobs and
just decided a few years ago to be the
stay at home dad. I do love it but I
have trouble keeping myself motivated and
getting everything done is so hard for me.
I still take medication and excercise 5
days a week. The medicine has made me
blow up like a balloon and I now weigh 200
on a 5'10 frame. I don't know what I
will do next year when my son goes to
school full time and I have to go back to
work. I am terrified that I wont be able
to do the jobs out there even with my 4
year degree and a fairly positve outlook.
Can I be motivated enough, can I do the
job and stay focused. I am really
sweating it and I don't want to let my
wife and family down. I know how you
feel and it is so scary sometimes. I do
hate winter though and maybe spring will
help us all.
