How do I know if I have a vaginal infection? My boyfriend and I have been having sex. He is uncircumsized and didn't shower when we had sex. I know he was dirty. I'm wondering if I could have a vaginal infection because I just got my period today and it smells very different and bad. Before my period it didn't smell so bad...

Usually symptoms for different infections are.. Thick lumpy discharge, smells different (sometimes referred to a "fishy" smell), colored discharge, itchy, burning, just anything that doesn't seem normal to you. Best thing to do is get into the doc and if you have an infection, they'll give you medicine for it.

Also, have your bf wash his hands and his private parts before you do anything. Don't let him use the same towel, wash rag, loofa, or anything that touches your area. Men have a lot of bacteria down there after a full day from sweating and what not. Doesn't harm them (unless they don't shower regularly), but causes major infection in females.
