Q: Can the Doctor Tell On Me?

My dad is taking me to the doctors tomorro morning for my first papsmere. Tomorro itll be 14 days after the time that me and my boyfriend had sex and he busted in me. Which I think is the time of the conception. Will the doctor kno if im pregnant tomorow or is it too early? And if I am. Will she tell me dad. Im 15 and my friend said since im under 18 that the doctor can tell my dad. Is that true?

I don't think a doctor can diagnose a pregnancy through just doing a pap smear - especially when conception was/might have been only a fortnight ago.

Unless of course you dad has asked her to check for pregnancy.

I had a pap with one of my pregnancy's at 5 weeks they said I wasnt preg. But at 7 weeks he knew I was, with same baby. So there is something that they can see, but in my case not til after 5 weeks.

Good luck

Sometimes if they're looking they can tell if your uterus is enlarged, which if it is it could indicate pregnancy...My friend had to get a pap test and she thought she may be pregnant...So she took a preg test, but the doctor felt her uterus and said that it was still small so she doubted it.

Well... I knew I was pregnant and I told the dr I was--so he was looking for it, but since I dint pass the urine tests until 7 weeks he said I wasnt preg and gave me shot to make my period start. Thank .God it didnt work. Came back 2 weeks later and passed urine test.

Now this example is just me(everyone is different)--but I do know in my case I was over 5 weeks before dr could "see" evidence of pregnancy.

i think your parents should know and I hope she does tell them if you are. But if you are not get on some birth control asap!! And use condoms until it kicks in all the way.

Well as for being able to tell if your pregnant by paps..Its possible because thats how my bestfriend found out she was pregnant..The doctor knew right away..Because the discharge and swelling of her vagina...Dont ask me but I was there and heard every word..So some doctors can tell right away..Others might not pay attention..

A website I went to once said that your cervix will be tinted a purplish color and that could mean your pregnant. I don't know if it's true though.

Doesn't that violate doctor/patient confidentiality... No matter what the age?

Where I live, if you are 16 or under, parents have to know so the docs tell them.

Look at it this way, if you are pregnant and the doc finds out and tells your parents.. That's one big thing out of the way. Plus with the doctor there telling them, you're safe lol.

If you are pregnant you will have to tell them sooner or later anyway.

Okay as far as the doctor telling the parents, I know in mississippi, if you are above the age of 12 and pregnant the doctor can't release any information to anyone with out the patient saying that it's okay. So in another words the doctor could get into real big trouble if u r pregnant and he/she tells ur parents. Wish u all the good luck

If there is some chance that you are pregnant and they do find out.. They have to tell your parents because u are under the age of 18. Its funny tho cause my mom is a nurse ( rn ) and my sister was pregnant for her first daughter at 18 and she hid it threw her whole pregnancy but we lived in a small town so the ob she went to see also worked in the hospital that my mom did. And they came up to my mom one day at work and was like congradulations grandma... Hahah and muh mom was like what the hell !!?!!? He he ... But yeah they have to tell ur parents..

The law veries from state to state. You need to look at the laws on your state if you are worried about being preggers. You need to talk to your dr while you are in the room alone with him/her. I really dont' think that they will allow your dad in the room during your pap. (my dad didn't want in there anyway, what dad would???) so anyway if you are worried talk to the nurse or the doctor and they can tell you if you are or arent and then they will talk to you about talking to your 'rents' with you there. Just advise your dr that you want to be around whenever they tell your rents... Ck the laws first so you are aware of what route to take with your doc

I take it that you don't plan to tell the dr you're pregnant either? You really need to tell the dr, even if she can't figure it out on her own, so that she can treat you properly. Whether you want her to tell your father or not. Your parents should know so that they can help you make the best decision for yourself and that baby. If you decided to terminate, they still need to know so that they can be sure it's done the safest possible way by the best professionals. If you keep the baby, you'll need to be sure to get prenatal care for yourself as well as the health of the baby.

So, that's my long way of saying that it's a moot point if the dr can tell your father or not. You should be telling your father.
