I have a high platelet count and I figure it is due to my splenectomy ....I am however wondering how long before my count normalizes.....See my spleen ruptured in '99 by a car.....It was therefore removed.....My platelets as I have read should go back to normal after time...But how much time....I just dont want something else to be wrong and not know due to the fact that I have had a splenectomy....All of my bloodwork show an average count on me to be 650,000
it has been as high as 776,000 and the lowest has been 580,000

i have also compared my hemo count and my iron levels were fine....I have been anemic in the past and used to bleed a lot...Unsure of what my platelet count was before my accident though

my obgyn mentioned she was concerned and will have my blood retested in six wks......I already know the count will be high...It always is

should I be concerned ???? Anyone else in the same type situation???
