Q: Adenomyosis and Menstrual Pain on my Wedding Night
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 30th, 2006
i am getting married in march and we will be ttc soon, i am currently on bcp to help with the adenomyosis but i was wondering if until after my wedding,it was ok to skip a few pills in each pack to enhance my chances of getting pregnant without having to stop the bcp completly, i would hate to have a surprise visitor who overstays her welcome on my wedding day and honeymoon when she has a tendency to be a pain.. anyway, if it is ok to do so, what days would you recommend skipping? thanks, kelly j.

Getting Pregnant Answer A330
Doctors normally treat adenomyosis with birth control pills in order to prevent ovulation. This is because menstruation occuring with ovulation in the cycle usually causes pain. In adenomiosis, menstruations become especially painful. By preventing ovulation we prevent painful menstruations (periods). Simultaneously, preventing ovulation also prevents conception (pregnancy). If you BECOME PREGNANT, ovulations and menstruations cease. Therefore pregnancy is a natural remedy for adenomyosis. You can try to become pregnant as soon as possible. Of course, you should stop taking birth control pills first.
