I was told by my gp that I may have pcos following blood tests which showed my progesterone levels as 2 (normal = 30). She made me feel crap saying the chances of me getting pregnant without help be slim to none. I'm worried that she might be right as I have been tryin to get pregnant for 8 months now without any joy. I'm annoyed that she told me this without further tests as I feel she gave me un necessary worries (hopefully). Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to help if I have got pcos? Plz plz plz help. :(

I have pcos and I just discovered it last year in november 05. I have been trying for a baby for 2 years now and I just realized that due to pcos I am not able to have a baby naturally. So I am taking clomid to help me ovulate. I am also taking metformin to regulate my hormones. So I hope I get pregnant this month.

Talk to ur doc n get more advice before deciding.

I am insulin resistant pcos. I tried clomid but never responded. I already have one little boy, with no meds. He is three. I think weight plays a big part in controlling the pcos. I got preg with my son at my ideal weight. After he was born I gained weight (and have never got it off). It took two years, failed clomid cycles and metformin to get pregnant again. I am 6 weeks preg with #2, and got preg on only 1500mg metformin. I ovulated on cd 28 though. It can happen. Don't get discouraged.

I have pcos as well. There is no one test you can have to determine you have pcos. I am trying to get pregnant now as well. I am on metformin and if that doesn't work I will try clomid. I talk to some ladies all over the world on pcosworldwidesupport.Com and they are great. I was diagnosed in march of 2005. A gynecologist might be able to give you better information about it and will probably do more tests. Good luck!

Hi,

my daughter "possibly" had pcos--this is what dr said "possibly"

she had never had regular periods, and that is why .Dr suggested it, and her weight problems with lack of over eating. Anyway, she always used condoms, and or "pull out method" which is something the younger generation is really into now. Whether trying to refrain from pregnancy, or just for cleaness sake. The very first time she allowed her fiance' to have his way--she become pregnant. She had uneventful pregnancy, and very serious birth. But now she has her periods every month like clock work.

So...If it was pcos, hers has seemed to change or improve since the birth, and she did not seem to have a problem conceiving baby. I do still believe some of her hormones are off, and her sugars may be high now, she has not checked them since baby was born. She did get gestational diabeties. So in her case it has seemed to help her by having the baby, but she still has a big problem with her weight, and she really doesnt eat that much--and gets plenty of exercise chasing my grandbaby around all day. And believe me she is wound up really tight, the grandbaby that is. On the go 24/7.

So...I said all of this to say, maybe a number of hormones could be off, in some cases possibly causing the in ability to conceive, or my daughter didnt really have it. But it might not be just the fact that some of you have pcos, it might be something else too. I know if one hormone is off, then many could and will be off too. Like hormone that governs the weight, depression, pcos, diabeties all work off of one another. All these things seem to be working together, or not working together. I would seek out the natural (homeopathic)avenues and really read up on the hormones we may be lacking-- that causes our problems.

Say in my case I learned I either lack seratonin or make too much I dont know--but it causes my depressions off and on for 20 years. I take celexa(seratonin uptake inhibitor) if I had taken the seratonin when all this started I would not have gained so much weight and I would not have diabeties today.

Well hang in there. I tried for 4 years. I did it all. I took clomid, metformin and that did nothing for me. I then tried injectiable fertility meds with after a second round of iui worked for me. I now have healthy boy/girl twins who just turned 20 months. I would talk to your doctor and see what they say. If it comes down to it switch doctors. You have to feel comfortable. I was told when I was 18 or 19 that the reason I was not getting pregnant and not gettin gmy periord was becasue I had ovarian cancer and I will never concieve. Needless to say I was horrified and switched doctors. Boy was he wrong.

Hi their ,i wish you all the best I was told at 17 that I had psod and I would have a slim to no chance of falling pregnant, well didn't I prove the doctors wrong I fell pregnant just as I gave up trying after two years I had a beautiful son and the test that I had after he was born showed no psod but I still have very irregular periods and unfortunately 4m/c as well. Dont give up I think there is alot more learning and invesigation into what happens with psod, everyone is different, you will fall preg. When you least expect it, good luck
