Q: Is a Sleep Number Bed Effective for Managing Back Pain?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 29th, 2006
I was wondering what you think of the sleep number bed for back pain? I do not want to buy one if it is a waste of money. My back hurts all the time and I do not get much sleep at night. Lower back pain and neck and shoulder pain.

Back Pain Answer A322
Before you invest in a Sleep Number Bed (I cannot recommend it because I do not own one), you might seek out advice for WHY your back is causing you pain. You can first try non-opiate pain killer-medicines (ketoprofen, diklofenak, ibuprofen…) to help releive the pain. There are, however, probably spondilotic changes on your vertebral column causing back pain. You should visit your doctor for an X-ray examination of the vertebral column. Nonetheless, I have no objection to anything that can relieve your back pain so if you want to buy a Sleep Number Bed and try it, feel free.
