Is Requip Dosage Too High for RLS? Posted: 01-29-06 16:20pm
I have suffered from RLS for 10 yrs (at
times unbearably) I have tried every
medication for this disease except the one
I have recently been placed on.....Requip.
My neurologist put me on 2mg three times
daily. The side effects are terrible,
nausea, extreme nervousness, spasms
lasting for about an hourafter dosage. Is
this dosage in excess?
My last regime was Meripex and Darvon
which I am clear of.
Requip (ropirinole) is a dopamine agonist
used for treating Parkinson’s disease
and RLS. Your neurologist started with
very high doses of this drug because the
beginning dose for RLS is 0.25 mg once a
day, 2-3 hours before sleep; this
beginning dosage is not the same for
Parkinson’s disease . The dose can be
increased to 4 mg per day at most. You can
consult your neurologist and tell her/him
about the side effects you are
experiencing from this medicine.
