Posted: 01-29-06 14:55pm

I WAS IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT TWO YEARS AGO. I WEBT TO EMERGENCY ROOM 9 MONTHS AGO. THEY DID AN X-RAY THEY FOUND I HAD SCOLIOSIS TOP CURVE 36 BOTTOM CURVE 27. TOLD ME TO FOLLOW UP WITH MY DOC FOR THE SEVERE BACK PAIN ,NUMBNESS, FREQUENT URINATION AND INCONTINENCE I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING. MY DOC SAID AFTER JUST FEELING MY BACK IT WAS A PULLED MUSCLE HE SENT ME FOR 6 WKS. PHYSICAL THERAPY. THAT ANSWER DID SIT RIGHT WITH ME SO WENT TO MY PARENTS PRIMARY DOC. HE SAID GO AHEAD WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY AND FOR SCOLIOSIS SENT ME TO AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON HE SAID DO 2 WKS OF THERAPY IF THAT DOES NOT WORK CALL HIM AND HE WOULD SET UP INJECTIONS. FOR THE NUMBNESS HE SEENT ME TO A NEUROLOGEST HE DID AN EMG ONE FOR MY NECK BACK AND LEGS (BOTH ARMS HAD BEEN GOING COMPLETELY NUMB)(MY LEFT LEG ALL THE WAY DOWN TO FOOT HAD SHOOTING PAIN)(MY RIGHT LEG AND FOOT HAD PINS AND NEEDLE FEELINGS )AND ONE FOR MY ARMS.HE ALSO ORDERED AN MRI. HE FOUND A TORN DISC, A HERNIATED DISC, PINCHED NERVES 2 IN NECK, IN MY LOWER BACK AND IN MY LEGS AND ANKLES.IN MY ARMS I HAVE CARPAL TUNNEL
NOW IF THE INJECTIONS DO NOT HELP THE SURGEON SAID HE WOULD DO DISC REPLACEMENT SURGEY. MY QUESTION IS I ALSO SAW A UROLOGEST THEY PUT ME ON DETROL LA 4MG A DAY AND SAID THEY THOUGHT MY URINATION FREQUENCY AND IN CONTINANCE HAD TO DO WITH MY BACK PROBLEMS BUT NONE OF THE OTHER DOCTORS ARE EVEN TOUCHING THIS PROBLEM SO WHAT DO YOU THINK IT IS?

The act of urinating is a reflex controlled by neuron-vegetative nerves coming from sacral segments of the spinal cord and local ganglia of the small pelvic cavity. Any damage to these nerves caused by trauma or degenerative disease can disturb the act of urination. Incontinence (the inability to urinate) is a major symptom of a disturbed urination reflex. It sounds as if your nerves are damaged for the same reason as the nerves in your arms and legs. You need a common expert opinion from a orthopedist, neurologist, urologist and neurosurgeon to confirm this theory.
