In jr. High/high school I had horribly
heavy periods. They were so bad that I
had to sleep with a folded towl under me
at night because I would bleed so much it
would leak out overnight. I had to use
the thickest pads day and night. I've
alway had cramps but I don't remember them
being unbearable in high school.
After I went on birth control pills (age
19) my periods got so much lighter and I
had almost no cramps at all. Although
lately my cramps have been pretty bad.
Like curl up on the couch and try not to
move-bad. But, when I started my period
thursday, I had some cramping but not real
bad. I took some meds and it was fine.
I started having pain during intercourse
when I was about 21-22. That still
continues. It's horrible. I don't enjoy
it all because of the horrible pain. I
can feel it inside. I just can't stand
it. It's unbearable. I stopped taking my
birth control pills about 2-3 months ago
because I thought maybe that was the
problem...It's not. I've gone off of them
before for like 6 or 7 months and the pain
was still there. It even hurts getting a
pelvic exam.
I have been to several doctors about my
pain but none of them have been able to
help me or figure out what is causing it.
I had been taking elavil for the pain but
it doesn't really work.
At the beginning of last year I went to
the doctor for gas, bloating,
constipation, and frequent urination. He
just said I probably have ibs. He did a
full urinalysis and all was normal. Those
symptoms have gotten a little better over
time. But what is strange is that when
they do show up, they seem to occur mostly
while I am at work. I have a desk job.
With the frequent urination I usually have
a sense of urgency. I've never had a
problem making it to the restroom but if I
wait too long to go once I feel like I
have to go, it starts to become
uncomfortable and hurt like I have been
holding it for hours.
I don't have any pelvic pain but I do get
some bad cramping in my lower back
sometimes before my period. And I have
started noticing that sometimes when I
urinate during my period it is painful.
I had an ultrasound/transvaginal
ultrasound last summer because my gyn said
my right ovary felt enlarged but the
ultrasound was clear.
I'm tired of going to doctors and not
finding answers. I just want to know what
is wrong. I don't know what kind of doc
to go to...Ob/gyn, gi, urologist? If
anyone knows of any good dr's in missouri
i'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks for
listening.

I am no Dr. And I do not know of any dr's
in your area, you might check out a
college that has a lot of medical in it
such as ca has u.C.L.A or possibly a pain
mangement physicians which are a lot of
times advanced anestheiologists but their
are a lot of good ones but I would
definitely get a second opinion for your
pain during sex, do you use lubricant,
foreplay as I have found out that when I
am dry, sex hurts too but I have had a
hysterectomy but we are all different.
I know that I used to suffer with cramps a
lot I used to drink hot water with ginger,
not too hot though and put my feet up for
about 1 hour and it helped me, it tasted
nasty though, gagged ne a couple of
times.
Ditropanxl has heped me alot with my
rushing to go pee and my sem-incontinent
problems, I also do some keegal exercises,
I believe that is what you call them when
you are squeezing your legs together
tightly and then relax because when you
sit awhile your muscles can really mess
you up down their.
I do not remember if you said that if you
have had a urinalysis or not as I went
through a period where I was getting a lot
of u.T.I's.
Sorry I could not be of any better help to
you but I tried.
The best to you!

Sounds Like Endo to Me Posted: 04-14-06 16:36pm
Hi kris 10 leigh, it does sound similar to
endo to me. I had all the same symptoms
and i've had endo since I was 18 and am
now 41. It will be better when you're on
the pill.
Find a gyn that specialises in endo/ademo
is my advice.
Don't delay. You can have surgery to
remove the endo although you will need
several ops to keep doing this as it
returns. But you will get relief from
each removal.
A diagnosis is made usually going on your
history and it does sound to me very
similar to endo. I did a web search and
found a leading expert here in sydney and
he did my surgery. Very good guy.
Something I didn't know all those years
ago .... If I had had a hysterectomy when
I was younger the endo would not have been
able to spread ... However I was told I
wouldn't have children after many years.
I was offered a hyst at 26, and then 30
something. I accidently fell pregnant at
35 and having gorgeous girl of 5 now. So
you just can't say never ?!?
Hope i've been a little helpful, my
thoughts are with you, it's very painful
and confusing.
Compassionately, sydneygirl
