2 years ago my husband had a major heart attack on a friday. He had a cath done and a temporary stint put in. Then he was put in icu. We were told that he was going to have by-pass surgery the following tuesday. He continued to complain with chest pains and his surgeon said he did not want to do surgery just yet. He wanted my husbands heart some time to bouce back from the heart attack. So he put in a device. It went in the left leg in the groin area like a heart cath. They did it right there in the icu room. It was hooked to a machine at the foot of the bed. I think they called it a heart pump or something like that. Could some one let me know what this procedure is and what it is called. It stayed in until thursday. A couple of days after his 4 by-pass.

Thanks,
d
