Q: Ultrascan to Check Possible Ovulation?

Hi friends,

i need help and advice. I started my period today and I will be starting out on clomid from day 2(tommorrow) to day 6 and on day 12 my doctor has asked me to come back for an ultrascan. The nurse told me that the doc will check for the best dates to have sex to try for a baby.

Now my question is, what happens at the ultrascan? What is I am ovulating and what if I am not? What happens after that? I also have pcos. So anyone who has been to an ultrscan for checking ovulation on day 12, can share ur stories and experiences.

Normally when does a person ovulate? My cycles are long like 40-45 days.

Pls share ur ideas & experiences.

I don't have any information on the ultrascan. You might be able to google that. I have cycles that run about 35 days and I usually ovulate at day 17-18 or so. I would think that you probably don't ovulate until around day 20. Have you tried the ovulation predictor kits?

No I have not used an ovulation tester before. When can I use the tester to know which day is my most fertile day...

Honestly, i'm not real sure. I would pick one up and see what the instructions in the box say. I only used one once, over 4 years ago. I got a positive, did the deed and got pregnant. I wish I could be more helpful. The only thing I can tell you is if your cycles are longer than normal, you probably aren't ovulating at the normal 10-14 point.

Yes, Ultrasound Can.
Hi,
yes, you can tell whether you ovulate by ultrasound. Cos when the egg is mature, it will be big. The size should be around 20 mm. Then the doc will tell you to try when and when.

Let me know how it all goes.

Hi deary,

i did that once before after my first cycle of clomid. I went to see the gynea on the 10th day. But my eggs will still small, about 12 mm. So, I went back again on the 12th to get another check, it was only 13 mm.
The gynea told me that it must be around 20mm-25 mm to be considered healthy eggs and then you will ovulate. That cycle was not good. He then up the dosage to 100mg from 50mg. How much you are taking now?

I am only taking 50mg of clomid. It's my first time going for ultrascan tomm to check for ovulation. Will let u know what happens... Tomm is day 12 of my cycle. If the eggs are small then do u have to go back again few days later? Or what is the next step?

I am quite worried, I hope the eggs are great. I can't go through the pain and misery with clomid and metformin again! I am serious, I might just take a break.

How did it go? I hope it all went well.
When my eggs was not growing, he said that he can provide medication to trigger my period or just wait for it to come naturally. So, I decided to wait. I don't really want to introxication myself with a variety of drugs. However, it also mean that I am waiting for my period. My cycle is extremely long and waiting for it mean wasting time.
I told myself that I will not wait. If eggs are not good, then hack with it
