I sleep on my side (they say it's bad to sleep on your back because the weight of the uterus and baby can block bloodflow to the placenta) I use a pillow to rest my knee on and kind of put the pillow in between my legs to help.
Also if I want to rest my back a little while I am sleeping on my side I put a pillow up against my back so that I can lean back and rest my back without having to lay flat on my back.

Or... She can always get a pregnancy pillow to help her out. There's different makes and different sizes, it would depend on what would work for her.

I wouldn't sugest taking anything.....I am having a hard time sleeping and my dr told me to take benadryl....However it didn't help at all. I got a list of what not to take and everything is on it. Poor thing...I understand that it's hard to sleep but taking something could hurt your baby.

I toss and turn all night long but I got 2 body pillows and put one on each side of me, so I dont' have to move one back and forth with me as I toss and turn. Thank god we have a ca king size bed...Can't find sheets to fit it but me and my two pillows fit as well as my hubby.

Lol...I'm in my 3rd trimester and it only gets worse!!! I've gotten used to the back aching ...Now when I lay on one side my hip starts to ache immensly!!! So I find myself rolling over every hour....I slept on my belly until I was about 4 1/2 months with my belly sort of cocked to the side....I can't wait until I have this baby!! I need my belly sleep!!!

Oh, yes!! I know about the hips hurting. I have to keep turning over again and again because my hip hurts sooo much during the night! It stay only a little bit sore during the day so it's not too bad, but at night, ouch! I hate having to have to turn over so many times, and then I can feel the weight of my baby going from one side to the other too everytime I turn around.

Talk to your Dr. About getting something to help you sleep with your pregnancy. I used to sleep in the recliner chair or if I slept in bed, I would put a pillow between my knees and I still do that to take the pressure off of the back. One lady told me the other day that she uses he full length body pillow and it helps her and she is in her third trimester, it always seemed to me that there was never a way to get real comfortable, you just nod off a lot both day and night sitting up with lots of pillows.
Good luck!

Lots and lots of pillows under and between everything - a nice relaxing massage just before she goes to bed may also help too :-)
going for a walk before bed may be helpful too.
But if it still doesn't help then talk to your doctor and see what they can reccomend.

I understand hurting hips. I thought I was just some kind of freak or something but now that I know it's happening to other people I guess it's the extra baby weight. I know what you mean too, I was definitely a tummy time girl when it was time to sleep. I can't wait until I can sleep on my tummy again!!
