My glands (neck) have been swollen for over a month now but last few days i've been worse - headache, aches, glands very swollen, low fever at night especially, and very very fatigued. Doctor put me on anti-biotics in case of infection but they did nothing...Actually feel worse now. Sounds like mono but what other glandular problem could this be?

This is a response to the following questions: my glands (neck) have been swollen for over a month now but last few days i've been worse - headache, aches, glands very swollen, low fever at night especially, and very very fatigued. You need to have the epstein barr blood test performed. You also may have chronic fatigue syndrome. My 11 year old son had a time with mono last year. He was so sick, and there is really nothing you can do except rest and drink a lot of water. He wouldn't eat and lost over 10 lbs. His glands in his neck were very swollen. It was definately something I would not wish on anyone. Good luck to you and hang in there. God bless.

Well my eb virus was "active" as per the blood test although my white count was good so he says that I am probably "getting over it" ... Lots of r&r, vitamins and less stress (lol...That's a good one).

I don't want to discourage you, but it took my son 4 months to start feeling better. His Dr. Said it was one of the worst cases he had seen. However, he was never hospitalized, but did need to take a couple of sessions of warm water swimming physical therapy. He had lost a lot of his muscle strength from inactivity. Our trip to the beach in june really helped him recover and lots of sleep and no activities. During his recovery, he would sit in the sun and draw for a couple of hours. That's all he had any energy to do. Good luck and hang in there!

E.B.V.(mono) like the other poster said can take a while to get over, you might also have cfs(chronifatigue syndrome) with it, if you ache a lot you might even have fibromyalgia which totally brings you down too. I am no dr but I have had all of this and more and will always have fibromyalgia. With my mono, they did five hydrogen peroxide infusions(the hydrogen peroxide is not like the type you buy in a store), although it has helped others, it did not do much for me. You might ask your Dr. About these other situations. When glands swell up like this it could be a sign of mono or a lot of other things. It is my understanding that once you have mono thaat it will show up in your blood test, I am not sure how true that is, you might ask your doc.
Hope you feel better soon.
