Daily Headache At Left Temple Area Posted: 01-27-06 11:17am
My mother is 87 years old and in fair
health, but no history of headache or
migraine problems. About six weeks ago
she started having a headache every day at
1 p.M. To 2 p.M., always around that
time. It was always in the left temple
area. I would give her tylenol at the
first sign of this (two 500 mg.
Tablets, crushed and mixed into applesauce
because she has difficulty swallowing
large pills). Within an hour, or two
hours at most, it would be gone. This
happened for 11 days in a row, then
stopped although the last 3 days it seemed
not as strong.
One month ago she saw her primary care
doctor for a general follow-up and I
mentioned the headaches, and he said he
had no idea what could be causing them,
and offered no solution. Fortunately
they had just about ended at that time.
Three days ago, she got another one,
though it was earlier in the day (about
10:30 a.M.) I gave her the 1000 mg. Of
tylenol and about 2 hours later the
headache was mostly gone. The next day
the same thing. Yesterday it came back
again around the same time. It seemed
much stronger yesterday. The headache
started on her left temple, but later she
said it had moved to an area directly
below her left eye. I bought some sinus
headache medicine (acetiminophen 325 mg.
Plus phenylephrine 5 mg) and gave her 2
of them at 11:00 a.M. At 2 p.M. She
said the headache was still just as strong
and painful. I gave her 2 more of those
tablets at about 2:30 p.M. By 4 p.M.
She said the headache had mostly gone
away.
I am just wondering what are the possible
causes for this type of headache, that
happens every day in the same location at
about the same time. She shows no
symptoms of cold or flu.
Thank you

Hey bob
you might want to look up a condition
called "temporal arteritis". Its an
unusual pain located in the side of the
head that can cause eye problems and even
numbenss to the affected side of the face.
Its ususally caused by a blockage in the
temporla artery.
Check out the symptons on webmd.Com or
other sites and compare to your mother's
symptoms.

Please find another physican........ Posted: 01-30-08 17:23pm
Hi, I do not want to frighten you, on Feb
3, 1999, I had a cerebral anuresym. I'd
been having the same type constant
headaches, except they had gotten worse.
My doctor could not find anything wrong,
yet he had not perfomed any test eithe to
check for such. . My Grandmother had a
cerebral anuresym in 1994. She died before
the ambulance could get to the house. Her
artery burst where mine was only leaking.
She was only 80. I was only 42 years old.
I would tell you to find a physican and
have them order MRI and MRA's, CAT scans
anyhting necessary to rule out an
anuresym. I had a crainiotomy, where I now
have a titanium clip holding the artery.
Doing very well, except for short term
memory loss..I also have a new physican
who perforrs any and all necessary test
whenever I find or feel there is something
not right going on with me!
Please......find another physican that
will listen and check your
Mother..........God Bless you and your
Mother!
