Hi, I have a question you might be able to help me with, yesterday when I got home I had the wolf mask, or butterfly mask on my face and I have not had it in five years since I went in to remission, but then this morning it had cleared up. I checked if I had a temp. Or if I was just flushed or something but it stayed for hours then went to bed and woke up and it was gone, have you heard of that happening or has it to you?I guess it just scared me because I have not seen it in years! Shocked well hope your doing well. Smile thanks, melissa

Hi melissa....To be very honest, my malar rash varies with how active my lupus is...I would let my doctor know about it. They may want to run tests to see if the lupus is trying to become active again (which I hope not).

They will probably want to check your c3 and c4 levels, your sed rate, c reactive protein and a few others to play it safe. I'd also let them know if you have any new symptoms *or* if you feel fine.

I will be very honest; I have gone to bed and woke up without rash. I find that happens after a very stressful, long day. Maybe you did too much over the holidays and your body just needed sleep? I have done that.

I hope this helps...Lots of hugs,
ladybrannon

Thank you for the quick reply, my apt. Is at 3pm today and I will let him know that I have not been feeling well and about the rash. What is so scary is these are symtoms from which I was dignosed with. Lucky for me the rash came out and I did not think anything of it went to the doctor for a creame or something for my face and he told me about lupus and the rash and when he did tests he found blood in my urine and found the kidney damage and everything went from there. Well i'm hoping for the best, I will let you know.Thank you Smile i'm so glad I found this site.Melissa

Prednisone...friend Or Foe??
Hi, new to site,
i am so overjoyed to have people to relate to...I know that sounds bad and is one heck of an oxymoron....I have posted several places and just found site today...Most encouraging stuff like how to find specialist and when to say enough is enough and demand tx....I flat out wnt to immunologist at university and said "i am tired of being tired and hving pneumonia every 3 months and have been battling all the tale tale s/s..Either you run all autoimmune/rehumy tests or don't waste my time" bless his heart, he asked me what meds helped and I said prednsione and ultram...He gave me script for both and then took 9 vials of blood and ua..Ua came back with lots of protein so he called me in lasix and told me that even if tests couldnt dx me he would see me once every 3 mnths for sx management"
the point, sorry got the fogg....Prednisone is wonderful for the joint pain and inflammation, bonus for me it makes me hungry because I am way under wt, and gives me energy...But my prednisone bursts leave me wiped out for days afterwards, the bloat is unsightly..Though lasix helps with that...But I always have seen prednisone as a friend that can turn foe in a heartbeat...What do ya do though...Just laugh and get through it I guess...It's like you wonder if these meds don't send your body up and down and all around....Hang in there guys, at least we have each other!
