If you found out you were pregnant...By your boyfriend/fiance/husband...And the doctor told you that there was a possibility that you baby was down syndrome..Which would you chose...??

Me ..I would have the child because my cousin has three children that are all down syndrome..Her first is perfectly normal..Regular schooling ...Talks and acts as we do...Her second wasnt as lucky she is in retardation classes..(i hate that word)..But she is able to talk and things like that ..Her third is a little boy ..He is to small at this moment to actually tell how he will turn out..But they are all so fun and loving ..And I would never think of aborting just for this reason..Because I would love my baby regardless its birth defects..

As I just said in the pro-choice forum, I feel like I don't fit on either side. But i'm going to post in both forums because I see both sides.

I would have the baby. I personally don't feel like genetic defect is a reason to terminate. Having a special needs child isn't the end of the world.

There are severe cases, though. One of my best friends got pregnant and at 5 months learned that her daughter had a genetic disorder called trisomy 18. The chances of survival past 2 years is extremely low. She had the baby stillborn less than a month later. That is devastating, but if it's a wanted pregnancy, I still can't see ending it.

Yes, most mentally and physically handicapped children I have ever met are the bravest and happiest children I know. And that my friend, would make my decision very easy, even if I werent pro-life.

Drs Have Been Wrong!
I know a couple who was expecting a baby, and when the woman went in for one of her checkups, the doctor said the baby had down syndrome, and he strongly advised an abortion.

They decided if god wanted them to have the baby, he would help them to love it. They refused the abortion.

Guess what. They had a little girl, and she was completely normal.
She was the only child they had, and they were so glad they did not have her aborted.

Wonderful
I think you are all wonderful for sticking up for all the disabled and mentally handicapped children that people abort because they don't fit what they want.

Both sides

abortion- well it depends on if it really bad and may die, or if you are in a place in your life that you can not no matter what take care of a baby with down syndrome then maybe adoption

not abortion- I would love the baby no matter what its your baby it grew inside you for 9 months you will always have a bond and like ppl said the baby could be perfectly normal
