In addition to fighting dry skin from the outside, with the use of moisturizers, you need to combat the problem from the inside too.
In fact, I would say that the latter (fighting it from the inside) is more important, and I would say that's certainly the case with you, since you've had no luck with moisturizers.
You should look at your diet, to make sure you're getting enough efa (essential fatty acids). Make sure (if you don't already) that you start incorporating nuts, seeds (like sunflower seeds), and oily fishes (like mackerel, salmon, and sardines) into your diet, a few times a week.
Flaxseed oil (available from healthfood stores) is excellent for helping skin to become well moisturized, smooth, and supple.
Take 1 or 2 tablespoons a day, with some orange juice, to get rid of that horrible feeling of cold oil running down your throat (ugh!).
Store the oil in the fridge, and don't use it to cook, since that will turn it into the type of oil that is bad for your health. So no popping corn with it. :)
that (together with a good moisturizing cream) should do the trick. Apparently, some people also apply flaxseed oil to their skin at night.
You may want to rub some on your hands before you go to sleep.
Flaxseed oil (taken internally) is also supposed to help with acne, due to the fact that it helps to thin the consistency of sebum (skin oil), thereby reducing the occurrence of pores becoming plugged up with gunk.
Also, drink plenty of bottled (or filtered)
water. Eight glasses of water a day should be your standard intake. Soft drinks don't count.
I'm not saying you can't drink soft drinks, just that they don't count toward how many glasses of
water you've had for the day.
Hope this helps.
