Q: Thyroidectomy

I had my thyroid removed on january 13th. I was really sick after surgery and wasn't in a real good frame of mind to ask questions. They said my calcium dropped too low and I have had to take calcium three times a day. They have not given me any other medication yet. I am really feeling bad. Dizzy, tired, if I move around too much I sweat and my stomach has been cramping really bad. Any ideas? Anybody know why they didn't give me medicine yet?

Thyroidectomy
Hello hrcollector, so you find symptoms occured after thyroidectomy? I got no idea why physician didn't give you any treatments or on any medication. Cause usually after that, patients take some hormone medi. I m hyperthyroid patient, ...I soon have a blood test again, but some symptoms got improved alot, especially my eyes getting better after a medi. So, maybe you can contact health-guard.Net. Perhaps he can suggest you how many treatments of "healthguard t18" as for supplements or health balance, as the way I do now. It is a thyroid medi.

Ok so let's be carefull....
You have had a thyroidectomy because of capilar cancer. If your calcium was that low, the doctor might want to get your calcium level stabalized first before giving you meds to replace it's functions. Why this has not been yet done? No one is to know, and I figure this is good for you too!! Your first step to me, would be that you inqire on this from your surgeon. Get firm answers from him. He/ she has a responsibility to give you all necessary info for your thyroidectomy. The dos, don't, whys, fors,etc.....
I have had a thyroidectomy caused by capillary cancer in march this year. I have also been searching online since september 2005 about the procedure, after effects, risks involved, precautions, treatments, and I can go on. My point is that, if you are concerned about any action taken or not taken by your surgeon, insist on knowing. It's your right!!! Now having said this, if you are not happy with the results of your inquiries, you are not obligated to stay with this doctor. There are some who actually cares about their patients and will be more than willing to help out.
Please keep us posted on developments on your progress....

Sincerely

larry
