Took a Fall.....

Hey everyone...I'm 26 weeks preggy and
last night, while I was putting groceries
away in the pantry, I stood on a chair
(because I didn't want to climb) and it
tipped forward. I was facing sideways on
the chair, so as it was tipping I tried to
grab the table and the chair practically
gut punched me. Initially I thought it
was in my left lower ribs, but it was
actually in my lower abdomen right above
my growing uterus.
This is my first baby, so it's not like I
wasn't paranoid enough before this
accident. My fiance was right there, but
bent over, and tried to grab me as I fell
and wound up pulling a muscle in his back.
He's still mad at me for even getting on
the chair. He say's I should've asked his
to do it..But i'm hard headed and everyone
was kinda busy.
I am sooo nervous that I hit the baby or
hurt it in some way. I'm not experiencing
any cramping, but my kick count is low.
Maybe it's my imagination, or just my
paranoia, but my mind is zooming with all
of the bad things that could've
happened.
I guess what i'm getting at is has anyone
else fallen on their belly or hit their
belly in any way? And if so, how did it
all go? I am soooo nervous right now.
The baby is still moving around, just not
like it should be I guess.
Any reply is highly appreciated.
Sarah

I've never experienced falling when I was
that far along. The only fall I took was
flat on my stomach very hard when I was
only 3 or 4 weeks along. I was fine, but
I was very early in my pregnancy. As long
as you know the baby is still moving and
kicking it sounds like the little one
should be ok, but I would definately see,
or at least call your doctor. Better to
be safe than sorry. Hope all works out
for you!!

After waking up a little bit, the baby
starting flipping and kicking a lot more.
My kick count elevated and it seems to be
normal now. I am trying my hardest to
stay optimistic about the whole ordeal.
I talked to a friend who said she had
experienced a serious fall on her belly
and everything was fine. She was about 6
1/2 months and slipped forward and landed
directly on her belly. She called the
doctor and they told her that if she
didn't experience and sharp cramping or
spotting, to take a "kick count." she had
to time how long it took her baby to kick
or move 10 seperate times and call him
back with the results. He also wanted to
see how long it took her baby to respond
to stimulus..(like tapping or shaking your
belly.)
i've done the same and everything is going
better than before, so hopefully it'll be
ok!! Thank you for your response...Every
bit helps!!

I'm glad to hear everything is well!
My sister in law took a fall down the
stairs when she was about 6 1/2 mos
pregnant. She fell then slid all the way
down, her back hurt like you wouldn't
believe, but the baby was just fine. She
was very concerned just like you, but she
luckily had a dr appointment the next day.
The Dr. Said basically the same as your
friends dr, as long as there were no
stomach pains, bleeding/spotting and the
baby was moving everything would be fine.
Take care!

If your really worred go to the hospilal
or clinic.
Im now 6 months pregant this wed. When I
was 4 months I fell out side on the ice
and landed on my belly I whent to the
clinic just to make sure everything was
ok. The baby was fine and everything. I
had a feeling she was but I still whent to
make sure.
There was a bit of white blood cells in my
pee but they didnt seem to say it was
something to worry about.
If I were you I would go just to make
sure.

I have fallen down the stairs a few times
because my ears were blocked and threw me
off balance, this is what my dr said when
I called cause like any normal mom I
freaked...
Dr said that the baby is so well
cushioned that nothing would happen to
them so basically unless I had cramps,
bleeding or amniotic fluid leaking I was
fine and shouldnt worry, if you need that
extra comfort see a dr but besides that
just becarful!!
Take care

week ...I went in for a check up because I
totally freaked...My doctor said the baby
is well surrounded and the fall didnt
cause any stress on the baby..You are
probably just stressing over it and its
causing the baby not to kick as much...If
it would make you feel better just get a
check up appt. With you doctor im sure
he/she will tell you everything is
normal...

For all of the responses, I read up a
little bit on the safety of the baby and
they said the same about the amniotic
fluid cushioning the baby.
It has been 24 hours and I haven't
experienced and cramping, bleeding, or
leaking of fluid. The baby has also been
active, so i'm feeling prety good about
it. I will let my doc. Know about it
when I visit him.

Sarah, i'm glad nothing horrible came of
this!
A friend of mine fell right on her tummy
when she was 7 months pregnant. She
started to bleed and had to be rushed to
the hospital. Thank god the baby was
fine!

over the baby gate to downstairs because
she was lazy and thought she could still
do it, but apparently not, she was pretty
bruised up and was bleeding, she thought
she was going to loose me because of the
bleeding, she went to the doc adn they
made her have a month of bedrest until I

My mom fell down with me too, I was born
right after the fall. I was born dec 1,
I was due jan 1. But when they got me
out they said if I had been in the womb 12
more hours I would not be here. So
everything works out for a reason. I
would have been 30 days dead, if she had
not fallen down.

Im not saying its ok to do and im not sure
on how accurate this is... But in my book
im ready " your pregnancy week by week "
because of the gravity pull from your
growing tummy u fall alot more. And i've
herd its not that dangerous if it does
happen. If pain persist call ur doctor
tho

If you are really worried about it you can
call your doctor and they can do a us on
you to check to see of you did do any
damage...Knowing me....I would. My
sister fell at about 30 weeks and it
caused her af to start to leak out and she
didn't realize it until a few days later.
Just be careful.

I have a dr's appt on the 1st of feb. I
am definately going to let him know and I
have an ultrasound that day for gender
determination (cuz my baby was being
stubborn) so maybe he can double check on
everthing. It's been another day and no
cramping, bleeding, or fluid leaking. I
feel like i'm in the safe, but i'll let my
Dr. Do the deciding.
Thank you for all of your responses they
really mean a lot to me. I am a really
paranoid person and they really help to
ease my mind.
