Bipolar Disorder Answer A247
Bipolar disorder is usually very a difficult psychiatric disease to manage. During a depressive episode, the sufferer normally has a weak libido; the desire for sex is weak. During a manic phase the condition is reversed; the suffered usually becomes very fond of sex. Medications used for this disease may also have a negative impact on the libido. One circumstance to consider is that you are still able to have sex, even if you do not desire it. On the other hand, if you were a man, you wouldn’t desire OR be able to have sex (impotency). You might want to seek help from a mental health professional to talk about the effects that medications have on you, as well as possible dependence upon marijuana and methamphetamines. These chemicals will alter your neurochemistry and add to feelings of detachment, depression, or disinterest in life (and sex).
