Q: Jaw Clicking / Pain In Facial Muscles
asked by: m4rk on January 21st, 2006

Hi there, recently I have had problems with my jaw, it feels as if its "tight". When I open and close my mouth it sometimes clicks but only on the left side...

The muscles around my face have also felt tight. Also when I move my bottom jaw left to right it makes a clicking sound.

I have a pretty bad ulcer on my tongue at the moment and kind of put it down to that, as I am probably over compensating to avoid pain.

Any help appreciated... Thanks

I'm so sorry you have to endure tmj like the rest of us, but we're here to help! If you've read my other posts, I'm a big proponent of natural remedies. Doctors are going to tell you about surgeries and medications, and they do work for some, but a lot of them are painful and expensive.

I have developed a method of meditation over the years that has really helped me curb my tmj pain. I go into a dark room for about a half hour and concentrate on nothing else but my breathing and I usually shut my eyes.

I use a product I found online called the Face Caddy to help me with this process. It' a velcro wrap that goes around my head and helps me put heat packs on my jaw. I use it during my half hour of meditation per day and it has worked wonders for me.

Please let me know if you have any other questions as we'd all be more than glad to help!

stay strong...

well they will eventually get to surgery--usually they exhaust every other option before they even thinkog it.

Hi there, sorry for not replying for so long.

I haven't had TMJ again since my first posting, it was very strange. Thankfully it wasn't too bad, I didn't suffer any headaches, just a tight feeling across my face and jaw.
