asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 21st, 2006
Lupus question
I am currently being treated for crohns disease with prednisone, and I am also being tested for lupus. Will the ANA screen or any other test for lupus come back as a false negative because of the prednisone that I am taking?

No, most of the tests will not come back as a false-negative because even small amounts of antibodies (ANA, anti-dsDNA, anti-ssDNA, anti-Sm,) in the blood or the skin(lupus-band-test) will still be detected.
