I am a pre-nursing student taking microbiology and we were discussing endotoxic shock and how dangerous it is. One of my first questions to my teacher was if the endotoxin is released from the gram- bacteria in to the blood stream can you just do a blood transfusion to rid the body of the systemic infection? She did not know and I have been on the internet for about 3 hours trying to research this and have not found a whole lot of information, mainly just a drug that can have some very serious side effects. If I can get some plain english info on this (remember i'm a new student) or some links that could point me in the right direction for further research. Thank you
