Q: Internal and Superficial Abdominal Pain
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 21st, 2006
Last night, and now this morning, I have been having sharp pain in my abdomen. Last night there were three very localized points that I can press on, and when I do press they feel bruised and sore. They feel superficial, like they are in the skin or top of the abs. These spots also will produce a sharp pain at random times, like a needle sticking in. They are located 1. to the right and above(2inches) my belly button,2. to the right and below(1 inch) my belly button, and 3. center top of my belly button but almost feels like inside of it. when i reach up and stretch it makes the pain worse. This morning the whole area feels dull and sore. Last night I was pressing around for more spots so it could also be from that possibly. Also I am constipated. I did not have a fever yesterday or this morning. No other symptoms besides the pain. is it just constipation or something more serious?

Constipation may be causing the pain that you describe as cramp-like and internal. I think that the surface painful points, however, are more the result of anxiety than abdominal disease. You can go to your doctor to be sure for yourself.
