Help Me Plz! Some Think It Mite Be a Brain Tumor.im Worried Posted: 01-21-06 02:49am
I am currently 16 years old but signs of
my depression slowly started showing in
5th grade and everything seemed to shoot
downhill when 7th grade started. 8th 9th
and my current year (sophmore) have been
the toughest. I also suffer from anxiety
and and sleeping problems. I have been
treated and still am, for all of those
things numerous times with different
medicines. Nothing seems to help....For
not too long my pupils have been dilated
much more than usual, it seems every time
I look they are dilated, and about within
the past week some weird things started to
happen to me..Just stick with me..This
mite be a little long..It seemed like I
was starting to lose my mind, I put my
soda down and looked for it for 5 minutes
then looked on a ledge and thought "that
cant be it, I wasnt even over there"-i had
shook out a match and tossed it away, and
without realizing it until 15 minutes
later, I had thrown the pack of matches on
the ground as well-also, I had stepped
into the restroom, and when I walked out I
took one step down the stairs, and I was
very confused cuz I did not know where I
had just been and it took nearly 10
minutes to remember, also I have been
having trouble remembering when events
happened..I couldnt say if things happen 4
months ago..Or a year ago...Something else
I have noticed is my speech...I seem to be
mixing up words..Or not making sense..When
I am just sitting my legs and arms will
quickly twitch out of no where....Ive been
getting head aches when I wake up..My
appetite has been disrupted the past few
days..And after I walk up the stairs I
sometimes feel like my legs are made of
cement. I have always had sleeping
problems..But in the past week or two they
have gotten worse...I cant sleep, but when
I do its either a very deep llong
sleep..Or I wake up numerous times during
the night-the wierdest thing was when I
looked in the mirror the other night an my
eyes almost looked lopsided..So I looked
closer and noticed that my left pupil was
dilated more than my right..I am very
worried and dont exactly know how to tie
these things together. If anybody has
any sort of information or help..Plz let
me know.Im open to any suggestions what so
ever

Definatley make an appointment to see your
doctor... It could be related to your
anxiety but better to rule things out
sooner rather than later...

I don't want to rule anything out in case
it is something more, but a lot of what
you are saying sounds anxiety related, so
I wouldn't be surprised if it is since you
say you have suffered anxiety before.
When you convince yourself that you have a
certian condition, your body will start to
do all these wierd things and you'll
notice every little thing much more
intense. I have the same problem as you
with doing stuff without thinking about it
like when you threw the matches away. I
will do things like put the remote in the
fridge instead of what I was going to put
in there in the first place. I have no
sense of time, and most of the time I
can't remember what I did the day before
unless it was something really
significant. I get bad headaches. I've
been in target before shopping, felt kind
of out of it and light, all of a sudden I
stopped and was like, where the heck am
i...I knew I was in the store but i'd been
in there a thousand times before and I
couldn't remember how to get to the front
of the store. Besides the remembering
things, all the other things are gone now.
It was just for like 2 weeks when I was
seriously concerned about having blood
clots in my body. And i'm pretty positive
I don't have a brain tumor. Things can be
scary, so if it will make you feel better
to get checked out, do it. I try not to
go to the doc cuz of cost, but i've
suffered for 2 months thinking i'm going
to die every day, went in to get checked,
and immediately felt fine again...Except
for now that i'm developing a whole
different set of symptoms....I think i'm
just a hypochondriac!!!! But do whatever
will make you feel at ease.

Atleast your not alone. One time I drove
to school, parked my car, could remember
vividly parking it opening the door and
almost hitting the pole with my door,
steping out and going to class. When I
came back my car was not there but on the
other side of the street ( with the
drivers door in the street) so I
thought.... Did someone move my car?
Someone had to move my car. I remember
parking and all.
I have anxiety and have had my share of
tests and work-ups. My memory sucked, I
felt like crap daily and always thought I
was going to die or had an aneyurism.
My advice? Relax! That simple. Keep
your mind off it. Stop checking your
pupils, stop purposely trying to remember
what you though or said 5 mins ago. Stop
self diagnosing! I know these are
extremly hard to do, and I still have
trouble, but it does work. Just keep
moving on with your day and stop analizing
every moment. I promise this should help.
Dont stay fixated on one thing (like
moving the soda) just pick it up and
continue on with what you were doing. Our
memory isnt capable of remebering every
detail of your day it can only hold a few
things and then your brain decides wether
its important or not to stay stored. So
maybe that soda can wasn't priority. Stay
calm and convince yourself that these are
normal occurances to anxiety. I use to
have a sign on my wall saying "your not
going nuts". And it really did help
hope my advice was useful

Exaggerated Normal Things Posted: 06-22-06 03:28am
A lot of what you described, accept for
the dilation, sound like normal things in
a more severe case. These things like
forgetting where you just were,
clumsiness, etc can actually just be
caused from lack of sleep. But, the real
question is, why aren't you sleeping? I
had a friend who had a brain tumor, and
the only sympoms he had was ceizures. You
need to call some local doctor and ask him
how you can get checked out.
