even if you did not get a bad case of mono if you pass it on to someone they might because different people react different ways to mono.

Mono
Ok, here's the deal. Mono lasts with you forever. Once you first get it and are finally relieved of the symptoms, it typically takes about 3-6 months before the mono becomes dormant (occasionally can last up to a year). However, even after this one year, throughout your whole life someone could in theory contract it from you, but most individuals are immune to mono after their teenage years. The whole kissing ordeal should only be worried about for the 3-6 month period. After that, the virus will only occasionally flare up (really rare) and become active. Anyone that catches mono after this 3-6 month period is an unlucky person, like that chick who got it from her boyfriend who had it 7 years ago. He took the precautions, but the virus must have been in a short active state (flare up) when you kissed him, that would not happen often.

There are many different ways to contract the virus that gives people mono. Simply being within the range of saliva droplets from somebody talking or breathing can give you mono. Saliva is how mono is transmitted and when you come into contact with it you can get it pretty easily.

if you have mono like i do and i'm married. You should always tell the one you love even if it is just a fling or a girlfriend or a boyfriend because if they truly love you then they will completely understand that you can't kiss them. They will still kiss you believe me because that is love they want to be sick with you lol. I know it's crazy but don't be afraid to tell the one you love that you are sick they really need to know it's not an std it is just mono remember that.

Yeah I've had it for a little over a month now. I got it during finals week at school and got it from a h/u (which was a mistake) with one of my best girl friends.

At first it was a horrible headache, persistent cough, nausea and probably tiredness but I just assumed it was from lack of sleep and stress during finals week so I just had coffee.

Symptoms got a little better for like a week, but never disappeared, but then my tonsils got huge and were almost touching each other. I don't think I ate for a week. I also had some nasty white stuff on my tonsils and back of the throat (i guess they're called tonsil stones).

I got a blood test and tested positive and then symptoms went away shortly after (symptoms were only 2 1/2 weeks long) but I was really tired from then on.

A few days ago my throat got really soar again and my tonsils are getting huge again. Is it normal for symptoms to continue after my spleen tested normal a few days ago? Cuz I hope I don't have strep now.

Mono
I just got mono 2 weeks ago and my I tested positive on blood tests. I spoke with my doctor about how long I would be contagious and she had said that most of the time people are no longer contagious after 2 weeks after the fever breaks. If you did not have a fever along with your symptoms then I would just wait about 3 to 4 weeks after the start of the illness.

I had mono for about 2 weeks and I kissed my boyfriend and he didn't get it so I don't think that it really matters as long as you are careful. When I had mono my doctor told me that it wouldn't harm my boyfriend if we didn't kiss for only a few weeks so I think that you guys are fine
