Hi, I woke up one morning and under my right lower rib cage was killing me. I thought I had slept the wrong way. Well, it's been a week and no changes.
It doesn't ache, it just hurts to touch it and very unconfortable to sleep. The pain in directly on my right side exactly where my rib ends. When I try to feel around in there, it hurts terribly. Feels like there is something in there under my rib. Any ideas. Thanks

Liver resides just under rib cage on right side. Possibly your liver???

Your best bet is to go to the Dr. And to get it checked out, it could be gass or something minor or it could be something more major.
Good luck!
Keep in touch!

It is possible for it to be liver related but if it is your actual ribs and not something inside or behind the ribs I would hesistate to think that. If it is a liver problem, you are going to quickly go from a but sore to a dire situation and it will only get worse the longer you wait to get treatment.

A good way to kind of rule out this problem is to press on the area just below your ribs on the right side, if there is no pain, it probably isn't organ related.

You may have an intercostal bruise where the area between the ribs is swollen and hurting or it could be a fractured rib. Have you been coughing alot or playing any rough sports? It could just be a contusion but in any case, no one here can diagnose you, you need to visit your family doc and see what they think.

It actually feels as if it's under the bottom of my right rib on my side. If were liver problems, wouldn't I have other symptoms along with it? I hope? Thanks

That may be a cause for alarm. If you cannot get in to see you family physician, you may want to head in to the er for some preliminary testing. This is not something you want to wait around for.

I agree--any internal organ in pain--is a cause for alarm. I would go in too if it does not stop within couple of days.

I went to the Dr. And had an ultra sound of all of my organs. They looked perfect. But my side is still killing me. Waiting for bloodwork results. It feels swollen and painful to touch. It never changes

Keep pushing to get answers! It is great news that it isn't organ related!

I have similar pain except the pain under my right ribs is accompanied by pain on the right side of my back, and I have problems walking on my right leg, it's almost like dead weight. Had my organs tested but they came back normal. Im curious to know if you get any answers, and what other kinds of tests you get done. Good luck.

Hi, it turned out to be plurisy, an inflamation of the lining around the rib area
