Red Raspberry Leaf Tea/tablets
Posted: 01-18-06 22:57pm

Hi I was wondering if anyone has taken raspberry leaf tea or particularily the capsil form of them. I had planned on taking this from the begininning of my pregnancy and since I don't like tea I found the tablets at my local health food store and bought them. I asked my ob about it but she didn't seem to be aware of what it was. At first she thought I was talking about just a regular tea you can buy from the grocers and then when I explained it a bit more she told me not to take it at all and that they are "money making scams" which makes me think that she doesn't know what it is...Because native american women have been taking this for centuries...Lol and I don't think they had money making ideas on the brain. Anyways I still plan on taking this...It's just she mentioned that they may have some kind of medications that are not listed in them...And on my bottle it has "red raspberry leaves, and magnesium stearate" as the ingrediants I looked up the magnesium and it's just a mineral that is good for the body and supports bone mineralization (i found that here: http://w ww.Herbal-connection.Com/magnesiumstearate .Html ). I have talked to a couple other people and everyone who has heard of it seems to think that it is to bring on labour...Which in all my research of I have found that it isn't supposed to be what it is for (just a faster and easier labour).

Anyways I was just wondering if anyone had taken or tried it...And what your results of it were. Thanks :d I am going also going to check with my family doctor I think and see what he says since he is a trusted friend of the family and he is also into homeopathic medicines and herbs and stuff, I didn't plan on taking this until about week 34 (i am 33 this week) anyways even though I read it was okay to take anywhere after week 30.

Thanks for your replies :d

Yea they said its really meant to help with speedy labor although ive read that its ideal to take 5 weeks b4 edd (which I also plan to do)? Anyway I think you're doing the right thing in consulting an expert.

Hey

I was reading about after I talked to kirstens mommy before about it its actually recommended that you dont take it till the 9th month because it can start contractions now they cant pinpoint if triggers labor but just to be on the safe side read up on it abit. I read this online as well the book "what to expect while expecting" has made refernce that it can trigger contractions and is usually recommend at full term. Out of all the ways to induce labor rasberry leaf tea and sex have shown to trigger contraction/labor because they trigger the hormones that help us start labor although no dr has been able to pinpoint the exact reason we go into labor.

Hope this helps
