Q: Effects of Transatlantic Flight on Children
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 18th, 2006
Hello Doctor, my son recently travelled on a long transatlantic flight. Prior to the flight he had been suffereing from a cold. when he arrived he had dark patched around his eyes. could this be caused by the flight / cabin pressure with his sinuses being blocked. Is there a term / name for this.
thanks

Headache, Migraines, Sinus Conditions Answer A205
It seems that your son wasn’t sleeping well upon his arrival to another continent. This may be the cause for the dark patches around the eyes. It is difficult for some children to adjust to international time zones. Further, his cold may have increased his fatigue, not sinus cavity pressure.
