Q: Ultrasound Friday

Hi everyone. I am 19 weeks and 4 days. My ultrasound is friday to see what my baby is. My quuestion is this. The receptionist at the doctors office told me to drink sprite or mountain dew before the ultrasound because it is high in sugar and it will make the baby active so we can lessen the chance of it's legs being closed and the baby beign asleep. Has anyone else heard of this?

Ohhh yes!!! It definate plus to drink something with lots of sugar before an ultrasound appt. Not a lot though b/c your tinkle will have high amounts of sugar suggesting gestational diabetes and we don't want that!! You can even drink a couple slurps of coke...

I went with a friend to get her ultrasound and the baby was asleep and not really waking up with bouncing on the belly(with the ultrasound monitor) and the nurse practicioner came back with a dixie cup of coke! Sure enough..About 5 minutes later that baby was exposing himself like never before!!!

So yes..I've heard of that procedure just be careful on the amount you take in!!!

Good luck!!

Sorry, I forgot to update you all. It's a girl. And I just have to say - she would not open her legs for about 15 minutes so the mountain dew thing is not accurate! I have a 7 year old daughter at home who is beside herself with joy.
