Homeopathic remedy for urticaria:

* what is urticaria
* types of urticaria
* causes & symptoms
* what can homoeopathy do

if you have had an itch, scratch, a swelling and redness and disappearance of the same rash sometimes even without medication you have suffered from urticaria. It is no surprise that it occurs in about 10-20% of the population at some point of time in their lives.

What is urticaria?

Our body has an immune system which responds to an external agent either live ones like bacteria or viruses or factors like environment to protect itself. But in many number of cases where there is no perceptible cause or even when it is minimal our body reacts violently and produces a protective reaction at that point of time. During this episode our body produces histamine to identify the cause and produce the necessary antibodies against it.

This protective reaction when it appears over the skin happens as a swelling with redness and with slight increase in temperature over that particular area and in common terms called as hives or urticaria.

Types of urticaria:

- any skin urticaria which lasts anytime between 24 hours to six weeks is called acute urticaria.

- in a significant number of cases we find that it lasts for more amount of time than the above and keeps recurring at intervals or certain exposure and is termed as chronic urticaria.

Causes & symptoms:

acute urticaria:

foods:
common foods which precipitate urticaria are nuts, chocolates, seafood, tomatoes, eggs and milk. Fresh cooked food tends to cause high percentage of urticaria. It can also occur due to additives and preservatives.

Drugs:
common drugs like antibiotics, antacids, painkillers, sedatives, tranquilizers, diuretics, laxatives can in some people cause urticaria.

Some patients on chronic medication for some diseases do not realize that this skin condition could be due to it. So it is imperative to tell your doctor what medicines you have been using for any ailment.

Infections:
sounds strange but in children common cold can also be associated with urticaria.

Chronic urticaria:

physical urticaria:
any exposure to sunlight, heat, cold, pressure, vibration or even exercise is termed under the above.
urticaria on exposure to heat of sun.

Dermatographism:

even due to pressure or due to slight scratching of the body can cause appearance of huge rashes on the back etc. And is called dermatographism.

Other causes:
sinusitis, ailments of thyroid&liver.

itching is the predominant symptom.

the affected area appears red and swollen when compared to the surrounding areas. It is called angioneurotic oedema.

this rash tends to disappear after sometime.

What can homoeopathy do?

Homoeopathy has definitely good remedies to control the symptoms of urticaria to start with.

Homoeopathy can cure acute urticaria.

Depending on the allergen and type of symptoms of chronic urticaria there are particularly good remedies.

Allergy to fruit and urticaria
I get urticaria whenever I take fruits. I also get swollen/bleeding gums and severe bouts of sneezing and running nose and black or deep blue patches below my eyes whenever I take fruits and anything sour like vinegar and lemon. After reading a homeopathy book I have started taking Arsenic Alb 30/200 which help a lot in curing all these symptoms. Should I take Arsenic Hydrogenisatum. Will I ever be able to get permanently cured.
