Today is my fourth day taking wellbutrinxl (150mg) and I havent really felt much yet. I havent had the urge to smoke and i've been crying a lot more the last couple of days (not depressed crying, I tear up watching movies or at the dumbest things), but I havent had any real side effects, except I do sleep like a baby... I was just wondering how long it takes for this stuff to kick in? Is it gradual or does it just happen?

I have been taking wellbtrin xl for 4 weeks to quit smoking. After 2 weeks I finally wanted to quit and now smoking makes me feel sick. I was very agitated for the first week and that has gone away. The only annoying side effect I am feeling now is my ears ring.

Wellbutrin
The dose for depression is 300 - 450 mg/day, and it might take up to 8 weeks to notice any improvement. Wellbutrin doesn't work at all for 35-40% of people taking it for depression. I'm guessing that it might take just as long for wellbutrin to help you stop smoking, and that's assuming that it will help you at all. Don't give up on it after 4 days. If the wellbutrin doesn't work, your doctor might switch you to propanolol, aka inderal, a beta-blocker.

Wellbutrin
Well welbutrin is gradual I think-it's suppost to take like around 2 weeks at least or someting that's what I was told. I have been on it for a couple months and it seemed to work after the first week or so but than it went crazy and stuff. So after going on it for almost two months they switched me unto a new anti-depressent.
