Normalcy of Missing Twin Syndrome Posted: 01-16-06 12:59pm
I have just been informed on my scan that
I was expecting twins, possibly identical,
but one was not viable, the other appears
to have a healthy heartbeat. My pregnancy
is currently 7weeks and 5 days, having
early scans due to past history. Is this a
common occurrence in multiple
pregnancy?
Yes, it is a common occurrence in multiple
pregnancies that one of two twins dies in
the earlier stages of pregnancy; only one
baby is born. It is called “missing twin
syndrome”.
