Solution on it's way
Hi guys,
I find myself in a similar situation. Hard lump, dizziness, pressure in the left side of the head. It's been there for a year now, and it really starts to annoy me, especially that all the ENT doctors say there's nothing to worry about, bot won't ever tell me exactly what it is. I'm going for a cerebral MRI soon and will try to get a cervical one at the same time... Will keep in touch Smile Cross my fingers!

HPV and tongue cancer?
This question is for canlasku:
what investigations did your doctor do to conclude that it is the base of the tongue cancer? Did you do a CT scan or MRI? and how long did you have this swollen lymph node for before the investigations?
I am just curious...

HPV and tongue cancer?
For canlasku,
my research revealed that people who are HPV positive with oral, head or neck cancer have better prognosis. Hope this helps.

This morning I had a knot come up behind my ear. Usually I associate this with an ear infection but this time I have been trying to get over a MSRA Staph infection. Maybe that is just another sign that your body is trying to fight off an infection. Still scares me that my body could be so infected.

Lump behind ear???
I've had a bump behind my left ear.. for ages... but only recently I have started having really bad head aches.. it's like a really sharpe pain almost blinding pain and it lasts for about 3/5 seconds each and they come in groups: like I'll get one then another 1 or 2 after that.

It's most likely my lymph nodes.. but I never get ill and I haven't had any illnesses in the past ages!

Should I get it looked at??

Cell Phones??
IS there any correlation to which side of your head you place your cell phone, and which side the lump is? I know its the same for me and this has me a bit concerned!

I have one of those lumps behind my right ear, its hard and feels like a bump on my bone. It will fluctuate in size occasionally, usually when I poke at it. I had my doctor look at it twice. She said that its most likely from fighting off an upper respiratory infections but I've had colds on and off so I didn't know why it was constantly there. Its been there since October and she just checked some different spots for swollen glands on my neck, armpit, pelvic area cause she said that in rare cases it can be leukemia or lymphoma and usually your other glands would be swollen as well which none were. She also told me twice that sometimes when the gland becomes inflamed sometimes it goes away all together or it'll stay and swell bigger when you have an infection. I had blood work done back in August and everything was normal before this so she didn't seemed worried but said that I could go and get a biopsy from an ENT of the gland if I can't sleep at night over it. I intend on doing that because I don't believe when doctors say its fine, so when I do go and do that I will post back and let you all know what they say. I am happy to know I'm not the only person with this gland staying around.

LUMP BEHIND EAR
I had the same exact thing...a semi-hard lump behind my right ear.
It would change in size, sometimes becoming swollen and tender. However most of the time it was simply there as a semi-hard lump, which would move slightly is I pushed it back and forth. However, once it got to be be the size of a marble, it did not go away. I asked the doctor to remove it and once the biopsy results came back, he said it was a lymphnode. The further blood tests really didn't reveal anything extraordinary and lymphoma results came back negative. I seriously wonder if it is a result of my cell phone and the radiation caused by its use.

Hi. I had 3 swollen lym nodes behind my ear last 2 weeks. It felt like bones and painful to touch. Turns out that the lumps was the preview for shingles in the ear (type in shingles or herpes zoster in google for more info). Took 2 painful weeks to recover from all this...

I had a bump on my ear a few years ago. It was driving me crazy because of all the pressure on my ear. So after a month or two, I finally numbed it with ice and cut it open with scissors (I steralized them first of course). This ball covered in an especially dark colored blood came out. I realize how stupid I was now, because my body was probably telling me something. After that, I had no bumps for years, untill this week when it came back. I don't know what to do. I am not stupid enough to cut open my ear anymore, because I am scared the bump might actually mean something bad.

lumps on head and pain in fingers
I have this lump behind my left ear with a smaller lump next to it.
On the opposite side i also have the same large ish lump.
I also have great pain in my finger tips on my right hand and my finger nails are painful to touch.
My scalp feels very itchy as does the fingertips.

I called the nhs24 service tonight and they have ruled out any nail infections, banged head etc and asked me to go straight to my doctor in the morning as its possible its an infection.

Just from reading the thread i didnt notice anyone with the two symptoms i have, are these linked?

Lump in ear lobe
My 13 yer old son discovered a lump on his right ear lobe and it is very painful to touch. I dont think it it much to worry about but i am one of 3 women in my family with Thyroid Cancer or who has had thyroid cancer, is this something i should be worried about and take him to have looked at? Everything i read about is "behind" the ear and his is in the lobe.

I didn't go running to any doctors, please! YESTERDAY, I mixed 3 drops of theives oil with 1 drop of clove oil, rubbed a bit on ea cyst, took a 1000mg of vitamin C, and went to bed. This morning, one of my cysts was popped and the other drastically reduced. No doctor bill, no run-around, no time off of work, and today, no pain. I got the thieves and clove oils at youngliving.org and I take the Solgar brand, buffered vitamin C.

Back in late February I got this hard, swollen, quarter-sized bump behind my ear, and was really lethergic. Over the next couple days, I also got lumps throughout my neck and got a very sore throat and stuffy sinuses. Knowing this indicated some type of infection, specifically a sinus infection, I took medication for it and it was gone in about a week, so I didn''t really think anything more of it, though the lump behind my ear remained.
Now, three months later, the lump is still hard and swollen, but it doesn''t hurt unless I press on it or rub it. Occasionally I get little, very sore pimples around it, but they go away after a bit and still the lump remains.

Probably unrelated, but I also have this dime-sized lump right behind the inside of my ankle. Thinking I may have misplaced something at some point, since I''ve sprained this ankle four times in the past seven years.

Very worried about the ear lump, since I''ve had medical problems for several years now (I have had interstitial cystitis since I was 16, and I have always had stomach problems and cluster headaches). Extremely worried that I keep seeing the word "cancer" especially since I''m only 21.

fungal
this sounds very much like what I have experienced...urinary issues, lump behind ear, ankle/joint pain, headaches, fatigue, constant sinus issues, stomach pains/gas. I am seeing a naturopath now for a systemic fungal infection. Look into it! The mainstream medical establishment cannot help us much on this. The research has not caught up on what looks to be a more widespread issue for many people than previously thought.

Pain, IC, Dizzy
I too have had IC since 1992. I've had long periods of remission from it too. I keep getting these lumps behind my ears but I've noticed I get them right before my period every month. I am 47, possibly menopausal. This month, this one is the worst. It hurt so much last night I got up and got an ice pack and it actually seemed to help the swelling. I feel very tired, sluggish, have been a bit dizzy for the last week or so, have little pimples around my head and they hurt if I scratch them, seem to lately have thinning hair. I have been a bit congested. Last month it was behind my left ear, this month it's behind my right. As many of us as are complaining about the same symptoms, you would think the doctors could figure this out. My mom died 3 years ago of cancer at age 61, it gets scary. They have always gone away but this one is making me feel very sick.

Hello, I've been experiencing the same hard lump behind my right ear. I've just thought about the fact that I almost always hold my cell phone up to my right ear.I sure hope that isn't what is causing the issue.

I am just curious... end

Yes I had an MRI scan which showed I had 2/3s of the base of my tongue was a tumor.

I also had in the end before treatment 6 cm lymph node and on the left side and the right side also starting to grow.

After the grueling Radiation and Chemo treatment all was shrunk to Nil and I feel good now, but when through hell and back for a couple of months?

The latest News is I have had a recent MRI scan to find when they say could be scar tissue but could be a lesion that needs cutting out or more chem. So not good news at the moment?

I have a lump behind my ear. Same symptoms also. The thing is, my mother died of metastatic paratid cancer. It all started with a lump behind her right ear, turned into a cancerous tumor, and spread throughout her entire body. (hers was a very rare & extreme case) Please any tips ? I'm very paranoid because i'm only 17 & it's been 5 years since she's passed. My dad is setting a doc appt. asap.

have i got Occipital Node Swelling or something much worse?
hi. Im 17 and i recently discovered a lump behind my ear too. i am really worried also. i have done some research and i have read that most of the time lumps like this occur when the immune system is fighting of an infection of some sort. i am slightly relieved to hear this as i have had an infection in my toe for some time, however i have only just discovered this lump today. though i feel that this is probly a minor thing, i cant help bu feel that this is something bad.

i have an appointment with my doctor in the coming week to talk about my infected toe. it has begun to heal by itself and quite rapidly over the past week or so. so i guess my biggest problem is knowing whats happening. shouldnt this swelling behind my ear be going if my toe is healing?

help please.
