Hi,
i'm a 32 year old, mother of 1, going in for laparoscopic gallbladder removal next thursday, 1/19 and i'm scared. I'm not scared about the surgery (though being put to sleep really creeps me out) but i'm more afraid that the surgeon will make an error. I know the risk of primary bile duct injury is minimal, (1 in 500) but i'm still petrified. My doc is youngish (my age, I think) but he's performed a lot of these procedures and never had any problems he told me. I'm also nervous about what to expect after the procedure (pain, bowl disorders, etc) after reading some of these posts.
I've been asymptomatic for about 5 months now, and didn't want to have it out, but my doc told me if I plan to have more kids (which I do) then I best have it out. I guess pregnancy brings on gallbladder problems and it can risk the life of the unborn child. I'm looking for some words of support and encouragement from those of you who have gone before me :)
thanks!
