Hi, what is wrong w/ your gallbladder? Do you have stones or a low ejection fraction?

I had a low ejection fraction...17.2% and have been w/out gallbladder symptoms for awhile now, but I have female issues now...What next????


Have you tried alternantive methods?

I am a 31 year old mom of a 6 year old and I had my gallbladder removed in 11-11-05 and I asked my dr so many questions about her ability to perform this surgery and she was like wow no one has ever asked me that.. But she anwsered them all and was great, I was so scared of somthing going wrong.. But now I am doing so much better and I had no problems... I do still watch my fat intake so I do not get diareah, but am trying to add back in a little at a time so my body dose shock itself...

I have stones... According to an ultrasound. I had my first attack when I was 7 months pregnant, and then several attacks for about another year. But I haven't had any in recent months. I sleep on my right side since the attacks went away, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it? And no, I haven't tried any alternative treatments... I asked my doc about oral dissolution therapy, but he said the medicine is highly toxic, slow to work, and the results generally don't last very long...

Well, stones cause like pain I have heard, but with my problem, it just causes acid reflux and acidity. If I had confirmed stones, then I would probably go ahead and have mine out too. I was scared of the surgery too, but I hear you don't know what happened. One minute you are in the op room the next you wake up in the recovery room. Let us know how it goes! I think the worst part about it is that if you are like me, you know there is some risk. This is about all that bothers me, but if I was in pain, I 'd have it done.

I wrote in another forum reg. My laprascopic results. Not good. I went home right after I recovered enough to drink some nasty 7up and eat a piece of cookie and urinate. But once at home the pain just got worse over the next few days. Neck and shoulders really hurt, upper abs and right side were incredibly painful. Hard to sit or lay down or move. By fri (after being told it was gas resorption problems) I was at the doc for a slew of tests. Xrays, mri etc. Then it was found bile had leaked and a stent was needed. Admitted to hospital and procedure set for sat am. Did not work...Rescheduled for another attempt on mon. Meanwhile I am in excruciating pain and on a morphine drip. Surgery mon successful. Pain a bit better, home on wed. So a week and one day later I am back where I should have been after surgery....At home. But, the pain while lessened is not gone. I can't walk much without being exhausted. Sleep is not great and I am so afraid the pain will be back. I start back to my teaching job on tues (2 weeks post initial surgery) and I am praying like crazy that it will work for me. I would like to get back to walking 3 miles and working out with free weights....Hmmm. Heck I would just like to grocery shop without my husband. I am not a wimp so this is really hard for me. My case is not the norm but not the exception either. I pray you will have the best results and the quickest recovery, but always know the worst case scenario. Ps I am 55 years old.

i had surgery last april at the age of 33. I to was more afraid of the anesthesia then the surgery itself. But I found out it was really nothing to be afraid of. You go to sleep & the next thing you know your waking up in recovery. For me the day after was the worst part of the surgery. Make sure you have someone staying with you. I ended up being alone, because hubby had already taken so much time off from work for me. I kept throwing up & I tell you that is mighty painful with incisions. The pain killer was too strong for me, so the surgeon had to have me take something not as potent. I was afraid of the surgeon making a mistake as well, he was maybe about 10 years older then me, but I asked him how many he'd done & it was in the thousands...All went well.

I do have some stomach & bowls troubles since surgery. I take metamucil everyday to help me out...& have had to take prilosec off & on due to aching up under my ribs (apparently from my stomach making too much acid). This has all been nothing compared to living with a diseased gallbladder & being sick everyday for 3/4 years...& the pain.

ask your doctor for an extension of your time off from work. Two weeks is the bare minimum for normal surgery. With your complications, you need more time off. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor for another week off. You will regret it if you don't.
