Very Early Preg Symptom - Abdominal Pressure/cramping?
Posted: 12-24-03 08:27am

Good morning everyone! I have a question. Dh and I have been ttc for a few months. This month we tried everything we could think of to make it happen and bd'd on days 11-12 and 14 from lmp. (think I o'd on day 13) on day 15, I had some strong cramps and sharp pains on one side all day long, and since then I feel some really unusual and strong pressure down low - like someone opened me up and put a big cantelope in so it is stretching and pushing on everything. The feeling is very strong and non-stop (day and night). Not quite like menstrual cramps. Also I am sweating a lot for me (i never ever sweat). No other symptoms like breast tenderness or anything but then I wouldn't expect anything right now even if I was pregnant. I am only 18 days from lmp now and it seems way too early to have any symptoms. I would not have even implanted yet.

Is it possible this is sign of pregnancy already? I am fine with waiting until next week for an hpt but I am just wondering if I should be concerned that something else is going on and get an appt...

Thx!!

Tiffany

Tiffany,

some of us are not so up to date with computer shorthand etc but if I understood your post, you & your husband are trying to conceive? This month you pulled out all stops on the mid cycle days (not sure how you could have o'd on day 13 - hope he's ok??!!) & now you have cramps & sweating?? Yes? By implant do you mean you're on ivf? What is bd'd??

Basically no 2 women are the same - no matter what anyone tells you & so you could be pregnant or you might just have gone at it too hard & pulled some muscles (which shouldn't explain the sweating - but that could be from a flu or other bug or???). If you want a real reply could you explain your post so I can comprehend it - we may also have an age (i'm 4Cool & upside down problem (i'm from a land downunder -australia).

Response to Your Questions

The shorthand i'm using is the standard stuff used in online discussions of trying to conceive (yes, thats ttc):

bd= having sex (dont ask me what it stands for, I dunno)
lmp=last menstrual period - some people count from dpo instead which is "days past ovulation"
o'd = ovulated (not sure what you thought I said but it sounds like it may have been more fun that ovulating)

implanting means when the egg implants in the uterine wall. That happens about 7-10 days after the egg is fertilized. Ivf (in vitro fertilization) and if you are bd-ing to get pregnant, you wouldn't need ivf... Laughing (hows that for a test run of the lingo???)

hope this helps when you are reading posts out there on the net....

Thanks!!! & no you wouldn't enjoy o'd in the way I meant it ie overdosing!! Although I guess overdosing on sex could be different!!

Ok, now to your original questions. Yes you could be pregnant but y as I said before you could also just have pulled a muscle in trying so much.
In ttc (i'll get the lingo - or some of it one day!!) there's some serious facts that people forget:

1) making love (not having sex) is supposed to be fun not work not stressful & not something you do on a time clock (i know sometimes that proves to be the only way - but why do you think so many people who can not have children so adopt or foster then suddenly find ooooops we're pregnant - they relaxed they'd given up & it happened, naturally they way it's supposed to. So get some fun & romance going.

2) have you ever heard of a "floating ovulation"? I have because we discovered that i'm one of those women who has it - I ovulate whenever the fancy takes even possibly more than once a month. I've had 6 pregancies (to get 2 kids) & I fell once 2 days before my period was due & with my daughter I fell on the last day of my period. My son well he was very early in the cycle but then I had a period after I fell with him.

As to symptoms, they are as varied as women, I knew each time within 24 hours because I would have one huge totally illogical & unreasonable emotional outburst (the first time I said jokingly to my husband that "this is what i'll be like when pregnant emotional rather than craving" & then we found out I was pregnant. Two friends of mine knew the moment they fell like that instant, they both (no, they're not related & only met through me after they'd had their kids) said that their body just went into overdrive & they knew & were right.

Last time with my son(now almost 9) I was told that a hpt was accurate something like 48 hours after intercourse so you could try that but if you're still in pain or if it gets worse i'd see a dr just to be safe.

Merry christmas

Thanks very much for that! It was very helpful!

I'm sure we didn't "overdo" cause I know what that feels like and this definitely isn't it. Lol!

That is cool about "floating ovulation..." had never heard that. I do think i've got my ovulation pretty close as I have a fertility monitor i've used in the past and it hit really regularly around the same two days so I just quit using it. I got to where I could tell by other symptoms...

You definitely answered my questions though because everything I have read said I really wouldn't feel any symptoms at all until implantation happened and the hcg hormone started releasing. And they all list things like breast tenderness and being tired but not cramping... And supposedly that would be at least several days away from now...... These symptoms started the day after and have been going on ever since!!! It sounds like some people do get symptoms earlier so I won't be concerned that something weird is going on just yet. Dh says I am abnormally emotional and that I am oozing a weird smell from my pores.. Lol. I do agree. I am sweating like crazy and its gross. Its the full feeling in my belly that makes me think pregnancy...

I will try an hpt or maybe even go get a blood test early next week! Yay!

Thanks...

Stop "trying"
Posted: 12-27-03 10:11am

Yes all women are different but I think it's an old wives tale that says if you try, it won't heappen. Give up and it will. This tale holds true for me b/c for 2 out of now my 3rd (i'm now preg.) children, I gave up trying, and just like you I tried everything, then boom within a couple months I was preg. I like to believe that when when the "big boss" above says it's ready then you'll be ready. I think that all moms will agree that stressing yourself out over trying to get pregnant is the one thing that will cause you not to get pregnant.

Just putting in my 2 cents and hope some of it helps in someway! Smile

I know this will sound really weird but I tried and tried to get pregnant, without success. I am now around 6 weeks. I have an extremely retroverted uterus which makes it hard to conceive. My mom always told me that after sex, I should try standing on my head. I did and voila!! Pregnant. Weird, but true.

I've had the same cramping and a few other pregnancy symptoms (not really sore breasts though) and i'm a few days late. It always helps boost me up a little when I read about others who are cramping also. Gives me hope. Good luck!
