If you ever look up the meaning of the name jezabel in baby books it always has something meaning decietful or something. I love the name but I would want her to be stuck with that meaning. What do you guys think? Too risky?

Jezebel
Friend,
bible theologians have discussed that jezebel means 'the daughter of confusion'. Unfortunately, she had a sad, horrible way of life. The book of revelation also links her with adultery, sorrow and judgement. You may like the name but it won't be worth the risk naming yr baby such. Please get a new name.

I love the name jezabel.... One of my puppies names is jezabel, spelt... Gezzabelle. She gets called bella, whick I also love, I think its sweet when shortened and classic when full. Does the meaning worry u heaps? Maybe try another name with the same synonoms, like --bel, just a thought

I think that names do affect to a degree your personality. I also believe that certain names carry a certain spiritual power with them. While I actually agree with you as far as thinking it's a pretty name I wouldn't name my kid that, it would be like naming a boy lucifer or something. I would let it alone and get a new name.

Oh! I went to school (in mexico) with a girl whose name is yetzabel and I always thought it sounded like a nice name even thought of naming my baby girl that until I read somewhere in the bible that she was a prostitute and then I changed my mind.

I guess to me it does matter what the name means.

It's up to you to decide whether you like the name and the meaning.

The jezebel spirit is the spirit that "can if possible" lead the true prophets and true men of .God away from the truth. It is a witchcraft demon, and it is contrary to anything good, godly, pure, lovely, truthful. She would entice, if you will; these men to go into a strange woman, "follow other gods" and not the true .God of heaven. I would never name a child that--i do also believe that names can carry with them spiritual power, negative or positive.

I know a song entitled "jezabel" too, only it's not very well-known. It also speaks of a woman who goes and plays guys' hearts for fun.

Jezebel sounds so fun, energetic, and beautiful to me. I actually looked up jezebel in the bible. It says that she ranks as one of the most evil women in the bible. I would not name my child hitler or lucifer. I'm sad that name has already been tampered with. Maybe I can use it as a middle name and spell it differently?

I don't know if changing the spelling will change the meaning. At least .I don't think it will in people's minds. But it's up to you.

When .I thought that .I might have a girl one of the names that .I was tossing around was .Mayeilin (pronounced my-ay-leen with the accent on the last syllable). I thought that .I had made it up. I decided to google it to see if .I could find anyone else with the same name and it turns out that it appears in some ancient esoteric book about angels and demons. Needless to say, .I'm not using that name... It's really up to you though. If you think it's worth it, or you think that the spelling will change the meaning, go for it. I personally just wouldn't.

You can't deny that most people are influenced by names. No one's saying that someone wouldn't be able to get past that but come on. If you're a prospective employer and you've got a pile of resumes in front of you and one is for a laquesha shaniqua chardonne jackson are you going to take it seriously? I have a friend with a similar name and although she is extremely qualified in her field it took her three years of job hunting to get her current job. People are influenced by and prejudiced against names.

Another thing kids are cruel. I know a kid named adolf. All his life he's been taunted with hitler jokes. If you're even remotely religious and you take your kid to sunday school what do you think is going to happen when they get around to the lesson on jezebel? It's like a joke name, i've heard people saying that some girl is a jezebel. In literature certain women were called jezebels. It seems like a heck of a lot for a kid to live down...
