hydrogen peroxide- open it first then soak the hell out of the effected area over and over with a que-tip- be prepared for a bandaide cause this will bleach and dry out the area- do this twice a day- then bath in hot water or hot towel over a large pot of boiling water with your face in the middle (sandwiched by the towel and pot)- may sound strange but mine went away after I recieved a sleep apnea machine?

Please do not put alcohol to your face! It is very drying and can cause your skin to start overproducing oil to compensate for that which can lead to more acne and oily skin. maybe you should see a doctor for a medical examination - take blood tests - instead of seeing a dermatologist.

Sadly....I am not alone.
I have been searching the internet for a couple years looking for others with this same type of acne. I feel bad that others are suffering, but also relieved that I am not alone. I've been battling this for 4 years. I've seen several derm's who give me the same speel "it's adult female acne, here's some meds". I was even given Spironolactone, which is a treatment drug for congestive heart failure but supposidly supresses testosterone production. Talk about SCARY!! I'm 38 and in very good health. I took it for 30 days and had to stop because it made me ILL.... It helped....but at what cost to my health??!?!?
I've tried so many other treatments but they are all just temporary. This acne is like planter warts as there are root like cores in the center. Pick them and they bleed like crazy. I have found that if I take a very sharp pin and get the core out, they generally heal within days. But if I don't, I will have them for weeks sometimes months.
There has to be a doctor out there willing to look into this type of acne!!! PLEASE!!!
I'm convinced it is caused by the additives and preservations put in our everyday food supplies and our bodies are releasing them through our skin. I say this because a few years ago I changed everything I ate and I noticed a HUGE improvement in my skin. I mean HUGE!! But eating all organic, cutting refined sugar, no coffee, limited meat intake, is a very expensive lifestyle change. But at this point......I need to go back to that way of life. I can't deal with the acne and scarring any longer.
Good luck to you all who are dealing with this. I know EXACTLY how awful it is.

Valtrex
Hey. Maybe this will help someone. I have been to the dermatologist for just the same thing...reocurring large slightly raised red bumpy area with different little follicules...it is a cold sore aka herpes simplex virus type 1. Doc gave me valtrex just two doses but he wrote the RX for refill as needed. I don't know about ya'll but when mine start coming up the area (always on my chin) feels kind of tingly and weird and really really itchy. It's always after I spend all day in the sun or if I stay out drinking all night. But if you get the itch or tingle, before the sore comes up, if you take valtrex (I take 2 grams) and repeat dose in 12 hours, it never comes up. Eat right, get enough sleep, take a multivitamin, reduce stess--your immune system can save you a lot of trouble if you give it what it needs.

I have been experiencing the same condition and have found something that has stopped it. I first unsuccessfully tried using hydrogen peroxide, salt water, and antibiotic cream. I finally tried Watkins petro-carbo salve twice daily. I wash the area on my cheek and chin with warm water and soap, then dry it and apply a light film of the salve. It has taken about two weeks for the area to clear up. (by the way, missing a day will let it reestablish.) I'll continue another week to make sure it's gone. Thanks to all who have posted your experiences -- they helped me to determine a path of treatment. I believe this condition may be caused by a fungus.

Sores May be STAPH INFECTIONS!
I have had the same type of sores that started out from picking white head surface pimples. The skin around the pimple seemed to just break away leaving a oozing sore that would scab. But the scab would just come off even with gentle washing and they weren't healing. I was putting over the counter antibiotic cream on them and wasn't picking them anymore but they still weren't healing. I finally made an appointment at the medical clinic where I see my general practioner Doctor to have them looked at. She took a swab of them to test for what kind of bacteria were making the infection she confirmed I had now. She also prescribed a prescription for Bactroban cream that kills a few different staph infections which is what I have. She told me we all have staph bacteria in our noses and on our skin but when there is an open sore it enters our system and grows. MRSA is a type of staph infection that can spread from getting into a sore into our blood and can cause serious damage to our joints, heart etc, from infection and can even cause death! I stongly advise all of the posters here to run to your doctor which doesn't have to be a dermatologist and ask if your unhealing sores are infected with staph bacteria. All of your decriptions sound exactly like what I have..the wart looking plugs and the oozing sores that won't heal. This can be very dangerous and shouldn't be taken lightly. Please don't wait as once it gets into your bloodstream it can be very resistent to treatment. I have learned my lesson and am not going to pick on pimples anymore. That small pimple that I could only see in my magnifying mirror I now would welcome over how out of hand they have became! By the way I am almost 55 and only had mild acne during my teenage years. She is also testing my hormones and after my infected sores are healed which in not even 24 hours and 4 applications of Bactroban have significantly improved, she will give me something to put on my whitehead pimples when I get them.

pimple like sores
i have the same thing. pimples, that juice, not pus, create weird dry skin patches, that if you pick the dry skin off they bleed, and take a long time to heal, (also have weird black colouring inside occasionally?)
i also have weird dry patches. i live with someone who has these symptoms, and fear, in sharing the houshold, i have caught something. i swear. ive always had pimples and blackheads. these are clearly not the same. and its like when theres one on my face, and i get a pimple, the pimple becomes one. infected. and they SCAR really easily and quickly, leaving faint almost creaters.
exactly what you guys are saying i have. im sure i have caught it. my family is having the dry patches pop up, but only i have the pimple things as well.

Everyone. What this is is a very mild form of herpes (cold sore). You contracted it from someone who had this STD. Lucky we have only contracted a very mild form of it. IT can SPREAD THOUGH!!! Stress/sun can trigger an outbreak. Treat it as though it was herpes. GL

I have it to. I am almost certain. It is herpes. I have the black part and u can see the path it takes under my skin. I am a picker and I am sure I make it worse. Valtrex and zoverax help but I have had an almost constant outbreak for months. I got mine from my sister. Sharing a pillow, drink or a smoke, I guess. I am a fairly attractive woman and it makes me not want to leave home. It got so bad I have had to bandage my face when I leave. Any thoughts?

I've had the same thing for as long as I can remember. I've found the best thing is to use iodine to wash the area and then apply either manuka honey , an antifungal cream like nizoral or paw paw ointment on the area after it's been washed and then cover it with an absorbent dressing it spreads really easily if you break it almost as if it is a fungal thing with spores . Hence it's best not to pick at it and cover it up for as long as you can but make sure that it's kept clean at the same time. I find the idodine wash at first helps to dry it up a little to prevent it spreading and the creams, which ever you choose coupled with the iodine helps draw it out of your skin and into the dressing. THe problem had got worse for me when I lived in an apartment in the city with poor ventilation and little light. We had a problem with the bathrooms there too and it was quite damp. This seems to point even more towards it being related to a fungus or mould problem. When I ate well got lots of sleep and let in the fresh air the healing was always quicker. Luckily we're moving tomorrow into a much better house, mainly because the condition was driving me crazy and I was subsequently driving my partner crazy since I was always so upset. he finally agreed to my idea of getting a bigger place out of the city with better ventilation and no damp. I'll let you know if this helps the condition. At one stage it spread to my arms and legs and I had to take 3 days off work I was so stressed out.

I have the same problem as everyone on this site.I had perfect skin until I had my son.He was born in march and by August I had this mess. They started out on my chin and nose then they were around my mouth. That wasnt a big deal they hurt, but then that wasnt so bad.Now I have pretty much all over my body. The doctor put me on steroids and that cleared them up for a week and a half, but then they came back in full force.I dont know what to do,but I wish it was gone.
